Rockets03...try again. I had an OLD OLD email addy there.

I still can't sleep. Its almost 2am and not a hint of sleep.

Maybe I am worrying more about what would happen if I DON'T get the job because I am not bringing home any income?

I don't know. I guess I will know on Monday. I am actually getting a little stronger reading all you guys responses...especially Dandorotiks!

    I am still praying!...

Seems like you would have scored BIG on integrity points had you just told the truth. Too bad. Hope it works out for you anyway... :)

Good luck Almu! I hope it works out well in the end.

From experience, it is best to have a job lined up before resigning. Nothing worse than starting from scratch.

    Especially near Christmas!

But I don't regret it. Nothing worse than an employer you killed yourself over...sometimes until midnight...not coming through.

I know principle doesn't pay the bills, right? I actually had nightmares about all this crap last night!!!!! :(

Sounds pretty ticky-tack for pulling an offer. I wonder if they are just using that as an excuse when there is some other reason (they found someone else, etc.).

It's how you couch it. Never lie about what you currently make but express that you feel you are worth "X".

They thought you still worked there, but gave you an offer on Thursday and expected you to start on Monday?

I hope they're not expecting two weeks notice if you ever decide to leave them.

    Clutch,

I told them I only needed a week notice. I mentioned to them in interview...maybe number 5 why I was looking to go somewhere else. I explained to him why I was (the whole failure to live up to promise) and that I didn't to be there if I could help it. In addition, I told him I am using tons of vacation time I had left (he wondered why I am making every interview he requests).

    I hope so.

I just can't believe that EVERYTHING from A-Z checked out...I mean, I have references people would die for...and because I didn't mention that I had left earlier than when I said, he pulls the offer?

If it wasn't because I desperately need to get a job, I would be insulted by all this crap!!!

Definitely show up on Monday to the new job, but it would be best if you smelled of hard liquor, and were slightly buzzed when you did.

Start talking loudly about about how excited you are to "Rock the S***" out of some upcoming business projects, and then give a lot of high fives to anyone within 20 feet of you.

If you don't like that idea, Be prepared to show up on Monday morning, but call first. Tell him that you are ready because you are excited to get started, and hope that the misunderstanding regarding your previous jobs end date has been cleared up. Let them know that you are sure they would hate to go through the whole job search process again to end up with their second choice to feel the job. Apologize for the misunderstanding, and will agree to any further discussions regarding the new company's policy so that you will be in full understanding and compliance with their wishes.

wait you told him you were using vacation time?

thats kind of crossing the line between not mentioning you left the job and lying about it

That is what caught my attention too. It is one thing to say you have an outdated resume, but if he asks how you are able to interview so often and you say because of vacation time, that strikes me as being misleading.

So...you just flat out lied to the guy...many times about the same thing.

Your resume was the first lie. Stating why you were leaving instead of why you left is the second lie. Then the vacation time is the third lie.

No offense...but if I were to find that in the interview process you lied to me three times, I wouldn't hire you for an executive position either, especially one that has financial budgeting/reporting responsibilities.

I hope it works out for you...but it seems to me that he is the one concerned about it. The "investors" likely don't know about you yet. He caught you in a lie and has grave concerns about turning his books over to you.

    True...

But he said he didn't care but it wasn't up to him.

On Friday, I kinda got over the phone that he wasn't the one with the final decision. But I just talked to my dad and though he says it shouldn't be a big deal, he understands the other side also.

Alot of people I talked to kinda see it 60/40 on my side of still being in there. They mostly mention how you have to work late night and weekends and rarely does someone take a job like that. So, to go through that whole process of finding someone again might not be in their interest.

Bummer. I knew better. Got such bad advise I want to SUE!

Also, let me ask you guys...

Does it matter that everything else was excellent? From the references to the testing to the interview with multiple people? Could this one mistake REALLY bring it all down?

I don't see why it would ever be a good idea to fester lies like that. Chances are it makes no difference at all and your introducing risks that make you out to be a liar. I feel for you but it appears you botched this one. Move on. Get a new recruiter.
