Hello all! Sorry for the late reply. But after the initial shock and trying to adjust the house finances and more interviews with other companies (nothing yet), I came back to this thread. I am sorry I left you guys hanging. Just so busy. Mix in Halloween with two kids who are hyper....just busy. Ironic, when you have NO job, you are more busy? Weird. Anyways... Let me say first I don't appreciate some of the name calling or "humor"...not nice. October 29th was the big day. And when you read this, you are probably going to think I should sue. But I let it go.... I was at home and he called me and I couldn't get to it. He leaves me the voice mail and it goes something like this: Alex, Scott here. Give me a call when you get a chance. I spoke to the team and we wanted to follow up with you. I will be gone for the next couple of hours to try and reach me later. Sh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!T. I got to the message just as he hung up and I called him right then and there. He was still there. After the usual pleasantries, he told me that he couldn't take me into the fold because of the discrepancy in the resume. I told him that I was sorry but that I was told by a recruiter that because it was still fresh into me leaving, to leave it and explain it if its asked. He didn't budge. So, then I ask him could I provide 3 more references from top, top people (CEO and two COO's from previous employment). He said no. That he doesn't doubt my abilities and he surely thinks I can do the job. But that its an honesty issue. So, I said if I was dishonest, why would I offer you such high level references? You checked everything out on my resume and besides the bad advice, what fault was there? I can do the job. You interviewed me 8 times. You obviously didn't do all that work for nothing. Again, he said that at the level I am going to be in the company, they needed someone honest. And since I wasn't forthright with them about "a very important date in my career"...pffft...that he just can't trust me. So, me needing a job because I am going to go down the tubes financially, I threw myself at the mercy of the court. I asked if he had anything else available that would allow me to build up my reputation with him and the company? NO. I asked if I worked for 50% off what he was paying for 3 months and gave him references and had an actual high level exec write him a letter vouching for me, would that make a difference. NO. So, I just finally gave up. I was a little pissed off because I never had anyone question my integrity like he did. I know I made a mistake. I know that I knew better. But...if you get pulled over for your first speeding ticket, does that make you a habitual law breaker? So, I hung up pissed....and thats when things got weird... About 5 or 6 hours later (around 4pm), I get a call from this woman. She works at the company as a temp. Her last day was that day and she called me and said this (not word for word but very close)... Hi. My name is Heather and I work at *****. Can I speak with you about your application for employment here? She went on to tell me that she was the one that opened my Fed-Ex package with the initial resume, cover letter, etc that I sent. She told me that she was the one that made the initial contact (I remember). She said that they had a TON of responses and I was his choice from day one. And then she said... Into your interview process, someone showed up with similar background. I just had more experience than she did. Yes...SHE. But guess what? Thats the person he was going to give the job too. And you can imagine why, right? Heather told me that I was so in there until she got here. That she was qualified for the job. But I was MORE qualified. Heather said that she is not accusing anyone of anything. But to do all that work and not hire me because of that was stupid. She went on to say that she thinks she got the job because she was beautiful and they were always at Starbucks during the interviews and they were always after 5pm. Mine, incidentally, were at 9am or 10am. So, whats up with that. Supposedly, she only had 3 or 4 meetings. I had like a HUNDRED! I asked her why she tells me all this and she says that its her final day and she is moving on to another company. She actually doesn't know exactly why I didn't get in. I explained to her why and she says to me that this woman hasn't even finished college! Well, that is that. I think that my mistake was the killer. At least I like to think that. But she made it seem that it was her beauty and not her qualifications that got her the extra special consideration. There you have it. I sit here out of work because some dumb biatch! LOL! Now, I am going to take this experience, put it in an envelope and give it to my landlord for this months rent!
