Well.....since MCMark did it, I guess I'd better reveal a little secret myself. Earlier today, I was offered a contract-to-hire gig with one of the largest oil companies in town. I'll be a 1099 contractor for 6-12 months and if they like my work after that, I will be offered a fulltime gig with the company. The pay rate as a contractor is a 35% increase over what I am currently making. Many of you know that I had been looking for a new day job for a couple of years. I'd even been offered a couple of fulltime day jobs that I passed on because they just weren't right. This one is right. It falls in line with my skillset (IT Security), it's in the private sector with a good company, and I get to learn new skills as well. It's a professional place with sharp people. Now I just have to deliver, and I believe I will. I just finished typing my resignation letter, and I will be giving it to my manager as I walk out the door today....in about ten minutes. I will then check in with this thread after I get home, once I pour a nice glass of single malt scotch (Dalmore) and light up a Red Auerbach sized victory cigar (Macanudo Monte Cristo). I can't believe it finally happened. I'm happy, but still in kind of a state of shock. I start the monday after Thanksgiving weekend. Might not be able to post here as much during the day, but I'll be (1) more challenged, (2) happier, and (3) I'll have quite a bit more cash in my wallet.

My wife just got a position in the corporate level of her bank. She started it last week. Tonight, I witness the Rockets beat the Mavs in person again... Raises are fun!
