"Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" Firing you. "What do you like to do for fun?" Reading Peoplesoft manuals.
seriously i emailed a company/organization 2 weeks ago with my resume to the head of hr and no response after a week of anything, not even a bs ...thanks for sending us your application....i sent same email to one of the manager at the company and got a response back in 2-3 days....its a shame i dont know what they could be doing all day to not even write back a simple email saying we've received your application. my pet peeve question is when they ask you why you quit from previous jobs and then ask can we contact previous employers.
If you were MacGyver, then give an example of a contraption you would invent to help enhance productivity in the workplace (use your previous employer in the example). This one always stumps people for some reason.
I hate when the interviewer comes in the room w/out his pants on and says 'So, how bad do you want this job?'
or they tell you they've decide to hold off hiring, that has happened to me in the last twelve months twice for jobs paying what I had know I did I could be earning right now. one guy I freakin waited for an hour and a half for the interview because he forgot and dropped his wife's car off at the shop. then he gives me a freakin hour long interview, very easy going, both of us graduated from UofH, and then the guy decides to promote someone already there. jerk
I argue every now and then with a few guys who I know own businesses on this site but I have a lot of respect for people who own their own business and this is just one of the reasons why. don't have to deal with this crap.
I also have an interview this wed pun, its actually my dream job at this point in my life. question, should I say this is my dream job. do you guys think they would respond negatively to that?
No. Tell them how much you really want the position and what you have got to do to secure the position. If you don't let them know how much you really want the job then how are they supposed to know?
I would not use that phrase. It makes you sound like you are full of sh*t. However, do convey to them that you see yourself fulfilling whatever responsibilities (reference specifics) that the job requires. Lastly, don't act like this is your dream job or you'll come off as nervous. The above is imho, as I've interviewed and hired folks for the past five years. Good luck.
Haha they really do that? I'm at the akward stage in your life between graduating from college and doing whatever next. I'm going to start applying soon and if somebody did that to me i'd probably snap.
I hate the "what is your biggest weakness" question. Let's see, the last 6 jobs I've had were Sonic 3 times, Steve & Barry's, Jason's Deli, and Baylor Dining Services. 5 times I was asked that question. Putting on a serious, thoughtful face and musing quietly, "You know, sometimes I really stress myself out because I tend to take my job too seriously and I definitely classify myself as a perfectionist" gets really old after awhile. It's gotten favorable responses but I need to come up with a new bullshlt line. I'm looking to maybe get an internship next summer so definitely gotta re-tool that one.
That is such a dumb question and they know it too. I think they usually ask it because they were asked it. The question has a damned if you do, damned if you don't answer because if you answer it honestly and point out serious flaws then you will be giving them reasons not to hire you, but if you give a bs answer then you will be viewed as someone who is phony. My best advice is to give a legitimate flaw, but then back it up with reasons as to why it's not that big of a deal. i.e. lack of experience, but fast learner, hard worker, and high drive.
