If the texans go something like 13-3 or 14-2 and he gets 20 or more sacks this season, he has a solid chance.

If those two things happen you can put it in the bank.

I don't believe 20 sacks for Watt is likely, but if he leads the league in sacks and the Texans are the #1 seed in the AFC, he's in the mix.

Has a chance with no QBs or RBs really jumping out this year. Rodgers had a slow start statistically, Brees' and Brady's teams are both having mediocre seasons thus far by their standards.

There has only been 2 players on the defensive side to win MVP since 1957. The most recent is Lawrence Taylor (LB) in 1986. If Watt were to win the MVP that would be a huge, huge accomplishment.

I'd bet against it but I do think a case will be able to be made for him.

    Rodgers is on pace for 4,500 yards 43TDs 9Ints 70% completion & 109.6 QBR.

    Manning is on pace for 4,800 yards 37TDs 11Ints 68% completion & 105QBR.

One of those 2 will win the MVP. No question about it.

If the season ended right this second, hell, I'd give him MVP. Think about who's making a huge impact on the game right now... there's nobody out there. Watt, A.J. Green, you could stretch it and say Ryan, stretch it further and include White or Harvin. Mathews, Guerlien (lul), Eli Manning, maybe Bowman. That's how weak the cast of characters is right now.

It Manning gets to nearly 5,000 yards, posts his highest completion percentage ever and nearly 40 touchdowns while the Broncos make the playoffs I think the voters would cream themselves while they put his name at the top of their ballot.

Uncommon for defensive players to win it, but he continues on his current pace he likely will deserve it.

I don't think you are watching many games if you think those are the only characters with a huge impact.

Watt is having a season that is literally redefining his position. There is a chance that this could be a season to which other DE's are measured.

Sounds MVP worthy to me. Not to scoff at Rodgers or Manning's numbers but they've been done before...to death.

Name some, it's incredibly difficult for me to come up with names on the fly this early on a Friday. I'm sure I overlooked plenty. But still don't think we have players playing at Watt's level right now.

Do you think it matters if Watt deserves to win MVP? He won't. He will get DPOY.

Manning would be setting career highs in yards & his 2nd best in completion percentage & QBR. He is arguably the greatest QB of all-time.

Rodgers' season? Only Brees, Brady, Manning & Rodgers have seasons like that (each has only done it once). Rodgers & Brady are the only 2 to have thrown for 40 TDs and fewer than 10 Ints in a season. They both won MVPs in those seasons.

You are confusing last year with the norm.

I'd give it to White or Gonzales before Ryan at this point. But it always has to be a QB for some reason...
