This is totally disrescpet to a player who played so hard for this organization for a whole season whlie only makes 2 millions(much much less than Spoon) a year.

"I finally know where I 'll be for the next season." -- Jim Jackson, July-2004

    so sad

I don't know what you make, but 2.2 million dollars is alot of money. And that's next year's contract, so you figure that he's saving about 1.5 million in remaining salary this year as well. You're crazy if you think 3.7 million dollars is nothing.

If I'm the owner of a terrible team and I could save 3.7 million dollars in a trade without giving up anything other than an old guard who didn't figure into my future plans, I'd do the trade in a heartbeat, regardless of who I was getting back. Boki's probably worth a flyer to the Hornets, see if a change of scenery helps his game, but the salary savings plus cap flexibility was the big ticket for Shinn and co.

I think this has more to do with him not wanting to leave Houston, the city, the organization rathar than him being pissed that he has to go to a sorry team like the Hornets; JJ has played on many sorry teams in the recent years i.e. Atlanta, Miami.

Francis, Cato, Mobley took it hard when they found out they were leaving Houston. So did KT. And now Jim Jackson's no different.

Of course the players that came in for those guys loved it.

I think we underestimate just how much guys love playing basketball and living here in Houston.

Well....... Steve understood... but not right away... matter of fact I think he was pretty pissed off at first as well cause the trade came out of the blue, just like w/ JJ... but as it is, the NBA is a business and JJ needs to suck it up and move on, as sad as it is.

I'm not saying that 3.7 million is not a lot of money. I just would not consider it salary dumping. I mean the Rox have been paying Maloney 3.5 million for 50 years.

    I does not really suck.

    1. He make millions to play a game we can only dream off.

    2. If he takes care of his money, he could retire early and still live richly.

    3. Fans (especially female fans) adore him. Even my wife was not happy he was gone ;)

    4. He could refuse to come to work and still sign at least a Million dorllar contract next summer if this contract is voided. How many jobs out there can we do this?

He is a millionare and living a dream once again - I wish I was in his shoes .........well not really...........but I guess you get my point?

    :)

Doc Rocket was dead on, again, with this call. Proves he still has the inside scoop.

This also proves how lopsided this deal was in favor of NO. JJ does not report, and NO still goes through with the deal!

    My sentiments exactly.

We should try to bring back JJ if he refuses to report.

JJ was screwed big time. This is his life we are talking about. He is a good player and he just got the death sentence for absolutely nothing. It isn't like you can use the "It's a business" excuse because the Rockets got nothing in return. If the Rockets received a good player (like the McGrady deal) that would have taken a little of the sting out of it.

Screw professionalism. More power to JJ. He should go play in Europe until New Orleans cuts him loose.

If I were an NBA role player, I would negotiate down my contracts and add a no-trade clause so this couldn't happen.

If someone pays me 3 million a year to play, you can trade me as often as you like.

Dont be suprised if JJ is waived and he would sign with Denver, our major playoffs competitor.

That's what I was thinking. Or else traded for a 2nd round pick. Denver was after Jon Barry and didnt get him. But Denver probably could get JJ for nothing now.

Maybe JJ will negotiate a really low buyout, maybe $1. Then he can sign with the Nugz or somebody like that. I wonder if this is legal with the CBA.

And all this just so Van Gundy can exact revenge on Boki. My goodness of all the problems on this team and Van Gundy is going after Boki? Boki? Boki?

And then we keep MoT because NO wants a 1st rounder???????????????????????????

Now how many of us really believe that Boki was such a disruptive influence on this team that Van Gundy had to get him out of here, and apparently MoT hasn't been a bad enough influence on this team to warrant moving him?

    Totally assanine.

    jopatmc,

Do you really believe that trade was all about JVG putting the screws to Boki and getting him out of here at all costs?

Whatever else you might say about this trade, Nachbar will get his minutes in NO, which is his overriding objective at this stage in his career. To say that the Gimp is extracting hs revenge on him is certainly inaccurate.
