i understand that they wil not get us good players. i just think that this trade solves nothing for us. Wesley is an ok player. Atleast Boki is young and might become an ok role player. so i did not like it that we lost him in this trade fr an old player who wil not play that long anymore. I would rather see how Boki would have turned out. maybe he would never have turned out to anything, but who knows. But i have to admit that maybe wesley is a better player for this team then JJ. But only time wil tell
what i meant was, tht it does not do anything in the long run for us. we wil not be a contender this year, so i rather want to see how Boki developed this year, or trade for another young player. Maybe Wesley is good for the team this year. But i wil have to see some more games of him. Maybe i'm wrong and this was a good trade. only time wil tell
Actually, this has been brought up quite a few times now. I've been one of the biggest complainer against JJ as a starter. He took a lot of open shots as you said, but he also did things he wasn't supposed to do as a role player, e.g., went 1on1, hold the ball too long to try to make a decision, instaed of just moving the ball, etc. Individual talent wise, Wesley is slightly better than JJ at this stage of their respective careers, but Wesley's strengths, good D, ball handling, PG plays, are something this team desparately needed. With Barry, Wesley, Tmac, we have enough shooters from 3pt line to make out the slack from missing JJ. With Wesley, our TO should come down, our ball movement should be better; more importantly, our premeter defense shoud be better, which in terms will reduce the pressure on our frontline, who had to play a lot helping defense. In the end, we traded a bench player (JJ is a bench player) & someone JVG won't use for a starter in Wesley, and filled some obvious holes. That's just too good to pass.
