Well, actually judging from the two games Wesley played, he is a just a much better defender than JJ right now. And it allows us to move TMac to 3. On the whole, I like the addition of Berry and Wesley to this team.

Sura, Barry, and Wesley looks to be a nice guard rotation.

Ths didnt make the article posted online by the ew York Post, but Peter Vecsey is reporting in the printed version of the Post that JJ was traded because TMac complained to management that JJ was taking some shots away from him. Anyone else who lives in NY could confirm this, it's not on the website, but it did make its way into the actual paper as a sidebar

Well, if Vecsey said it it must be true! (sarcasm)

I have a hard time believing that as TMac has really made a point to be a playmaker this season and, after the win against the Bucks, he gave props to the other players for hitting the shots when he was doubled.

After a few games, I really feel like we have a better team than we did two weeks ago. The collective IQ of the team went up after the two trades and we have guys that fit better than what we gave up. Both are good shooters who are active every second they are out there. I think Wesley brings more to the team that JJ as he is able to guard quicker backcourt players (which we couldn't before), has the ability to push the ball and penetrate a defense, and still has the same outside shot as Jackson. I feel like we still probably gave up a little too much for Wesley, but I like the outcome after these two deals.

Plus, it seems all indications are that NO really wanted Nachbar and, because they didn't care that he never showed up, shows that he might not have had as much trade value as we all seemed to believe.

I never really saw that. JJ took the shots that were passed to him by Tmac and others. The only time JJ tried to initiate his OWN offense is when Tmac was out of the game and we needed someone on the perimeter to be a scorer. Not really JJs fault because he was all we had and he had to take on that roll.

Tmac is getting plenty of shots and he is passing a lot. He looks pretty unselfish to me and as long as others are scoring I think Tmac would be content just passing them the ball. Tmac just doesnt want to keep passing the ball with people clanging shots off the rim.

Exactly. JVG and CD knew exactly what they were getting in this deal. It isn't that Wesley is a better player or leader than JJ, it's just that he provides certain things (quickness, backcourt defense) that JJ could no longer provide. They were big holes for us.

I think they probably wanted to get someone better, like Antonio Daniels, but they realized they had to settle for Wesley. It's not a long term solution but it improves the team for now.

I did not like the trade because of Boki being involved, but Wesley sure makes a difference in perimeter speed.

    Big improvement.

So, are you saying that if you were the GM today, you would trade Wesley for Boki and JJ?

I don't mind eating crow if that's what it is. It looks like Wesley is a great role player on this team with the good perimeter D, the quickness, and he is helping us get out on the break. I for one had felt like JJ was clogging up our offense by slowing the ball down, holding it instead of reversing it quickly, and not throwing it to Yao. What I still do not like about the trade, nor do I like about the way Van Gundy treated him was Boki. I still feel that Boki will wind up being a very solid offensive option for somebody and his defense will improve with playing time to be acceptable.

I feel that Van Gundy totally botched how he dealt with Boki and did not give Boki the opportunity to be successful. As a result of seeing how he dealt with Boki, I am doubtful of any rookie being able to develop on this team under Van Gundy.

I am glad we are playing better, but let's keep things in perspective right now. Utah is in the bottom of the division and really missing their key player. This game would have been different with AK in there. He creates all sorts of defensive havoc with his quickness and leaping ability, not to mention his offense. I am willing to eat more crow when this team starts playing competitively against the upper bracket teams, not just the bottom tier teams. I hope, hope, hope that is the case actually. I want nothing more than to see this team rattle off about 20 in a row like Miami and get to the top. The sooner the better.

Gosh, I would trade JJ for him....but I really think throwing Boki away for nothing was a mistake.....But......hmmmmmm, you can not argue with results.

If Wesley continues to play this way and he stays healthy, then I would be for the trade even though we included Boki.

So far 3-0, and if we continue to beat teams, then I will happily eat a crow sandwich.

The crow was for those people calling for JVG and CD's heads for trading the two for Wesley. So far, Wesley has brought more to the table than JJ or Boki (though it's not fair including him) -- So if you were one of those who said JJ was a better player and fit for the Rockets, eat up! :p

i do not like the trade because boki was involved. And i do not like it because our core is young, so if we trade we shoudl trade for young players, we are not gonna win it al this year. and how many more years wil wesley play? i do not think he wil play more then 3 years. I hate this trade because we got even older.

Get older? The only reason we got older is because we subtracted Boki, who coincidently never saw the floor nor was going to be a contributor to our future. So not liking the trade because of a future three years down the road, which 99% likely would not have included Boki, is pretty dumb.

i did not want to lose boki. But if we had to trade JJ and boki i would want a younger player.

neither is good enough to warrant a good, young talent. they're just not. i realize rockets fans think these guys are magic and kareem...but the rest of the basketball world is just stupid, and hasn't caught on yet. trading a perennial journeyman and a guy who hasn't shown jack doesn't get you good, young talent. it would be a lot easier if it would, though.

Now if we can get you to show JVG and CD a little love for knowing what will benefit the team.

I think the odds of seeing a Hakeem Olajuwon comeback and play like the MVP are probably better.
