Thanks mom ! And the effect is to make people think whether I am being sarcastic when using one.... DD
No its not because JJ was not going to retire as a Rocket. Plus we would have Boki's dollars coming off of the books at the end of the year if we decided he was not worth another year. Now we have 1 player in Wesley that makes as much as Boki and JJ combined but is not better than JJ gaurenteed for 2 more years. JJ made less and was just as good. We got screwed...period.
If in fact we were going to try and clear some cap space for this off season then Boki made over 1mill that could have come off of the books at the end of the year. Don't know what other moves could be made to clear room but this move hurts us if there is any thought of clearing cape space for the coming off season at all since Wesley is going to be on the books next year where as Boki might not. IMO this is just another sorry move that ties up more money in an over aged player that will not be on this team when we are true contenders. If Boki was that bad of a cancer then trading him for another bench warmer in a one year contract or just plain cutting him altogether was a much better move then trading him and JJ for Wesley.
As much as I respect Clutch, I have serious doubt about that article. Boki is in the doghouse, and I bet Van Gundy could careless about his whining. It seems ridiculous to trade a solid starter to get rid of a "whiner" on the IR.
I don't know. We already got Jon Barry, a backcourt player. And JJ is a backcourt player playing SF. I don't see why they need another guard. In fact, you can argue that we are very thin at the 3 spot. And they are trading away two SFs. The only argument that makes basketball sense is that maybe Wesley is a better defender than JJ. My guess is that Boki probably demanded a trade. But I just don't see why the hurry. He can sign with any team after the season. And unlike Rudy, JVG is not known to accommodate players' trade requests with no regard to team improvement. Anyway, this whole deal smells quite fishy to me. The management now looks like they are frentically trying to fix the team--the "just do something, anything" kind of mentality. And that doesn't bode well for long term.
because you know very little is thought-compelling in your posts?? jeff's post was dead on. like arguing with the wall. move along.
I doubt the validity of the article just from the fact that the Rockets CAN WAIVE BOKI. Boki is in the last year of his contract. Eddie Griffin was waived. The Rockets didn't need to trade him to get him off the team.
Damn, I almost missed that there is another thread with bickering going on! Must be the losing record...
Yep, must be tough to argue with someone who knows they are right and is unwavering in their beliefs especially when presented with abstract facts. Look, you don't agree that JJ should be angry about being traded, or that Boki is a player, fine. I tend to think otherwise, and no facts have ever been presented that sway those thoughts. Being bullheaded has served me very well in life....just as I am sure it has you too. Jeff's post was ludicrous as he always posts things where people are just to assume that he knows what he is talking about. But...pSSSST...come in a little closer.....most of the posts on here are opinions.....and I believe mine are right....unless I am proven wrong. So...let's review counselor. 1. I think it is OK for JJ to feel screwed and to consider retirement- you don't. 2. I think Boki can be a player if given the chance - You don't. Number one is irrefutable in my mind, JJ has all the rights in the world to retire and refuse to report, he has that right IN HIS CONTRACT counselor. Number Two is up in the air, one of us will be right, the other wrong, and if I am a betting man, and I am...I would bet on me. DD
DaDa -- apparently reading comprehension isn't among your skills either. i never said JJ didn't have the right to retire. i said i won't weep for him and scream "injustice!" like he's some poor coal worker or a child in a Malaysian sweat shop. you may do that all you wish. you started down this little trail of personal attacks. that's fine. and being bullheaded is fine...do it. i don't care. but don't expect people to take the opinion of someone who refuses to ever admit they're wrong very seriously. the most valuable component in any system is the one that's the most flexible. do with that what you will. i know jeff pretty well...he does know what he's talking about. what's with all the lawyer smack??? is that an insult?? counselor??? what should i call you?? gameboy?? you'd bet on you...there's a shocker. of course you'll be right...because in your mind, you're never wrong. by the way...what's an "abstract fact?"
Facts that are presented that only show partial truth, or do not take into account the whole story. As for your point about being treated unfairly, someone else compared it to a job transfer, and I was refuting that comparison, nothing else. I am bullheaded, and argumentative, sometimes I am serious, sometimes I just like to rile it up for fun....mostly the latter. No harm on the counselor smack, and you can call me gameboy any time you like. As long as my commas keep marching to the right. DD
Crash, According to Larry Coon's site, we have $55 MIL committed for 2005/2006. THat is not counting a Yao extension. You can take away JJ and Boki's salaries and we would have still been way over. The only way to clear cap space, would be to somehow ship Mo, or Howard, or Spoon to another team that is under the cap for next year (of which there are only 7 teams) and then renounce the TE we get in return. We are not handicapped anymore by Wesley's salary than we were by JJ"s.
