I was shocked when I saw this news on Yahoo. Definitely I will miss JJ and Boki. I thought we might trade PF and PGs, how come SF ...
Trade anyone who wants to be the leader of the team but who is not named "Yao" or "TMAC". This team is Yao and TMac's, only they can be the leader. Unless Yao and TMACK are the leaders, there will be no chemistry, no passion on this team.
Yao will be happy if his good friend plays very well at othre teams. Yao will be depressed if he see his good friend get no chance in this team.
1. Cuttino was a cog in that deal. Francis was the main piece, but no Cat meant no deal for Orlando. I agree with the Juwon comment, but before here he was a career 17-7 player. Who would have though JVG could suck the proverbial life out of his game so quickly? 2. I agree. Jackson has been solid all year, save for the games he missed, and he is easily worth the same, if not more than Wesley. That said, Boki was never going to see time here anyway and is a FA at the end of the season. Its better for hi to go somewhere else where he can showcase his talent and have a chance to make something of himself. If anything, it was the right thing for the rockets to do. 3. I only agree with this comment to the extent that both Damon Jones and Mike James were available, and both would have helped more than the old broken Ward. However, Ward already knew JVG's system and has been a leader for him in the past. It was just too easy for JVG to get someone he was familiar with to run the offense. All I know is, there better be a deal ih the works for a good #3 (Jalen Rose anyone?) or a decent PF, or we are in serious trouble...
JJ and Nachbar were arguably are top trade bait players with the exception of Yao and McGrady. You'd think we could parlay them into something more than a 34-year old middle of the road guard like Wesley. These guys should have brought us someone more like Antonio Daniels or Carlos Arroyo. Now who do we have left to dangle as trade bait for a power forward? Nothing.
. Too bad neither of them want to be the leader. JJ was this team's leader, trading him may have been a mistake. Wesley had better make an impact.
So CD said that the Doctors/Trainers do not know why Sura's knee keeps swelling up and that it was bad yesterday and he almost didnt play but its better today? That doesnt sound good...hopefully its just nothing.
Man, CD made it sound as if the only reason we did the trade was because Ward and Sura are hurt and he didn't want TMac to bring the ball up.
I think a lot of you guys are too short-sighted. The TMac trade was not made with the expectation that the short term results would be outstanding. It was made with the expectation that TMac and Yao would be playing together for years to come. Then, we have to build a team around those guys that works. Then, we could hopefully produce a few championships with these guys. Firing the coach is going to be the most drastic move one can make when all else fails. The players are going to be the first to go if their not getting the job done in order to find the players that can get the job done. This process was set in motion with the TMac trade and will continue until we have players that can compliment Yao and TMac. We're not even asking that much...play good D and MAKE YOUR DAMN JUMP SHOTS. Our fledgling team, before the trades, couldn't do jack to relieve the pressure off of Yao and TMac because they couldn't do something as simple as just making their shots with any consistency. We need scoring threats besides those two. JJ wasn't making his shots ALL SEASON except for last night. BOKI wasn't even in the equation. This trade will not kill us any more than we have already killed ourselves. It can only help us. Unless JJ was starting some miraculous run that countered his awful production before last night's game, then this cannot hurt us much more than JJ already did this season. What happened to the JJ of old? Heck if I know but he wasn't the player we followed from prior seasons.
CD is on 790 right now. I think there is some overreaction here - its not as if Yao or Tracy were traded. Barry and Wesley getting major minutes with Yao and Tracy. Lets see what they can do. I like the shake up, I like the shake up!
That says more about Wesley as a player than him as a 2. BDiddy is a star. Wesley was a starter despite being severely undersized, he did great at the 2. This guy has handles. Along with JB, they can really change how our games are played from now on.
Yao can still call him and they can still hang out. Keeping a person on the roster because he is friends with a star is a waste. This is not 'Where the Red Fern Grows'. Yao will get over this. The team chemistry needs to improve. This might help, but I really don't see this hurting us.
Forgive me if I missed someone else mentioning this, but there is still the possibility of trading Wesley sometime within the next 3 days. Denver still wants a shooting guard, and the Rockets still need a rebounder. But, barring any other trades, the Rox still need to get themselves a genuine point guard. If it were something like Daniels for that trade exception, Wesley and Barry would prove to be some pretty good depth. A 2-for-1 power forward upgrade would solidify things until the offseason.
