Haha...your comparing baseball and basketball? That's hilarious.

The Rockets already have 3 overpaid underachieving power forwards. It's hard to bring someone else in when you have so much invested in 3 other guys.

I think it was a solid trade. Nachbar has never amounted to anything besides his 5 minutes of fame against LA last year. Wesley and Jackson put up similar stats but Wesley is more versatile and a more intelligent player.

What has he done to prove that to you?

Good post Thinhallen! Yao needs to loose some weight off his shoulders.

I think the back court rotation will be more like:

    PG - Sura/Barry/Barrett
    SG - Wesley/Tmac/Gaines
    SF - Tmac/bowen

Id be quite suprised if Padge sees many SF minutes. Hes just not quick enough to guard the perimeter.

Yeah, I'm sure 'Zo would love to come here so JVG could hump his other leg.

Yeah i agree. Once Bowen comes off the IL then he will get 6-8 mins behind T-mac at SF.

Now that I am over the initial shock....

I don't think this trade is that bad, we'll see.

What we do know about Wesley is that he is a good defender, a good shooter, and is an intelligent player. I hope with him and JB on the floor, teams will have to double from the 4(if Tmac plays 3). Doubles from the 4 is much easier to deal with in my opinion.

I sense more trades coming. I hope this doesn't mean we have to start the chemistry building all over again.

Just the best local recent example I could think of... makes more sense than trading away the entire team one or two players at a time to fit into a system that doesn't work in the West (and really never worked in the East now that I think about it).

Awesome. Now we have four crappy point guards and four crappy power forwards. Let's trade Yao for a bag of balls now.

Oops, forgot that this isn't baseball.

Boki just said on 790 that he is happy because he felt like he couldn't get the playing time here he wanted. He said that JVG wasn't using him and he needed to move on.

I'm happy for Boki. I hope he gets a chance to develop there. He wasn't given that chance here.

Meanwhile, Van Gundy is going to continue to run this team into the ground.

After reviewing the updated roster, the Rockets still have Weatherspoon???

Can someone explain to me why he hasn't played much this season? I thought he played fantastic down the stretch last year and was productive in the minutes he played.

Is he in Van Gundy's doghouse?

Hornets trade veteran guard for two new players

    By Jimmy Smith
    Staff writer

The Hornets on Monday traded veteran shooting guard David Wesley to the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Jimmy Jackson and forward Bostjan Nachbar, the team announced.
Wesley, 35, was in his eighth season with the Hornets and 12th overall. He entered the season with a 13.3 points a game career scoring average. He entered the league as a free agent from Baylor. He scored the 10,000th point of his career last season, becoming just the third free-agent player in league history to do so.
He averaged 13.9 points a game in the Hornets’ first 25 games this season. Jackson, 34, is in his 13th NBA season. He entered the year with a 15.2 career scoring average. He played at Ohio State and was a first-round pick of the Dallas Mavericks in 1992 after his junior season.
In 24 games with the Rockets this year, Jackson averaged 13.3 points a game. Nachba, 24, was a first-round draft pick of the Rockets in 2002. He is from Slovenia and played in just 16 games with Houston this season.
“Jim and Bostjan are going to fit well into our system and should be able to help us with their offensive skills,“ said Hornets general manager Allan Bristow. “We’re optimistic that the addition of these two players and the return of some of our injured players will give us a great boost on the court.”

Yea...but if you think about it, then it really came down to the same thing....players executing. Also, do not discount the Beltran acquisition.

I just don't think you can get away with getting a new NBA coach in at mid-season and expect everything to turn around on a dime. Obviously, that wouldn't work for another team if they brought JVG in mid-season...lol. If the coach's teachings are way different than JVG's, then there is going to be a lot more adjustment going on there that a pre-season would...I think...be a necessity to allow the players time for absorption. Baseball doesn't require the kinds of adjustments that basketball does as far as playing the game.

The coach is the obvious one to blame when things don't go well. The players share the primary responsibility in not executing the coach's gameplan IMO. If you tell me the coach is the problem because he can no longer get through to his team, then I will be more willing to believe that a coaching change is necessary. The fact is TMac and others have been saying the coach's gameplan is solid....their just not executing it for whatever reason. If that reason is because they have no respect for or hate coach, then change the coach out. I don't see that at this point. I see a crappy executing team which lacks consistency and effort from within. Maybe a few player changes might change that.
