I was actually going to bring Masala Wok to Houston. There are 3 locations in Dallas and every time I go, it's always packed. Business is so good it's amazing. 3 years ago I talked to a manager and was wondering if I could start franchising in Houston. I even talked to my dad about the finances. It was a great idea, but all of a sudden one opened up on Beltway and Westheimer last year.
I go there sometimes around closing time, and they literally have to turn away business about 10 minutes to closing time. It is always packed even around 10 PM. Great product and business they got there.
drove by it the other day, im so excited its in houston, i ate there on average 4 days a week in austin. i too wanted to bring it to houston but never got serious about it. any idea when its gonna open? my guess was 2 weeks but who knows. #4 no sprouts!
JJ's is awesome. I'd say it is like a Potbelly's...except that most of potbelly's sandwich's are hot. But fresh meat at both places, few bread choices (better bread at JJ's), not a whole lot of condiments. Potbelly's gets a plus for the shakes. JJ's has more choices in terms of combinations of stuff they put together on their menu
How much do sandwhiches cost these days at a place like this? I can get an enormous sandwhich, chips and a drink at Whole Foods for $7-$8, only eat half the sandwhich and save the rest for later...and it's really good. I tried Potbelly's in Uptown Park, and it pretty much just tasted like another sandwhich to me...nothing special. This Jimmy John mumbo jumbo looks pretty similiar.
over-rated! clap clap clap clap clap The only reason their tiny ass sandwiches are doing well up here in Indiana is because it's the only thing open at 3 in the morning when everybody is plastered and looking for food.
Why don't you post the price after adding in chips and a drink frat boy. I'm guessing we're up around 8 bucks, and still not full. If I wanted to spend 8 bucks and still not be full, at least it would be on something I couldn't make at my house. 8" is not a big sandwich.
JJ's is awesome and is by far my favorite sub shop. Glad to see one open in Houston, I'll eat there for sure. Freak- So I guess you never eat sandwiches from a store? JJ's sandwiches are $4.99, chips and a drink might be $1.29 or something like IIRC. Not too bad considering that Subway and Quizno's can charge up to $7.00 for the sandwich alone.
Ah yes... America's gluttony at its finest: "I want to eat something that will make me feel like I'm about to explode!"
sub places aren't expensive when you consider how much deli meat costs imo. I know where you're coming from, but I think the quality of a sub with a good slice of meat is a couple of more dollars than the value of a burger from whataburger.
I got ripped off at Potbelly. I could have gone to Subway and gotten a footlong meal, although lesser quality, for the same price as the Potbelly sandwich, of which I could have eaten 4 or 5 of them. 1.39 for a tiny little drink, and like $3 for a little cup of soup or Wendy's knockoff chili. I couldn't stand that Potbelly place, so I look forward to Jimmy John's. Jersey Mikes is OK, it is better quality than Subway, but it just doens't have a lot of taste.
Did this is the best news I have heard in a long time! Every time I go back to Austin all I eat is JJ's. I even pick up an extra to eat on the drive back to Houston! I had no idea one was coming here. This rules! Vito with hot peppers baby.
All you guys love Austin way too much I've only been once, and after that one time I told myself I'm never going back!
I'll eat a sandwich at Texandwich in Round Rock or Jason's Deli. Or Pecan Street Deli in Pflugerville, Delaware Subs, but those are only for cheesesteak. That's about it. Quizno's, never.
