I get the feeling we came as close as we could after game 5, or maybe game 7 first half. I want to believe but I can’t lol.
Why? They were dealing a grumpy Butler who won't commit to signing long-term with anyone. It's similar to the Paul George trade - while Oladipo turned out well, at the time, it was just a bunch of role players too.
Karma gets Daryl Morey, when he released Robert Covington, should've kept him over Francisco Garcia. Rockets have no other talented players on the bench.
Ha! What's up Thibodeau? He wouldn't do a deal with Houston. Robert Covington really. Oh well on to the next deal because the Rockets will need one before it's too late. H-Town Crazy!! Go Rockets!!
We did not make a better offer than that. We did not offer 4 picks with EGo. Likely just 1 or 2. Sarik and Covington combined are much better than Gordon ... much better. Sarik is arguably as good as Gordon by himself (and 5 years younger), and Covington is an elite wing defender (the League's Poster Child for 3 and D) ... easily worth a Top 20 FRP.
I hope TWolves becomes the TMac Orlando Magic. Our offers was many times better than the immature organization firing GMs left and right. Not so bright players. So long Lettuce....
Agreed, all things considered they fit well at least in terms of age with KAT and Wiggins, Gordon will expire at 30 next year, picks were obviously going to be meh cause the last two probably had protections, Knight and Chris are trash...overall we just don't have enough good assets, Gordon and Tucker are, but for us didn't make much sense to trade both and for Minnie didn't make sense to take two 30 years old guys instead of two at 25 on better deals anyway...
I think for Philly is a bad fit on the court and a potentially explosive one off the court. Like things could get REALLY bad..next year because this year Butler has every incentive to make it work so he can get paid 50 millions more. There have been many rumours that Simmons and Embiid don't like each other and they had become monitoring the situation already, now add Butler on top of it. Basketballwise the fit is just godawful. I don't see this trade making Philly that much better.
Yeah it’s a big risk for the 76ers in terms of personalities and who the leaders / star players are. Much bigger than Kawhi.
Low-key, I think bT-Wolves will better after unloading Jimmy. While, I think the 76ers gave up too many valuable starters and have no shooters in the upper rotation.
I read somewhere the Sixers will have a near-max slot open next summer AFTER re-signing Butler ($40MM drops off between Wilson Chandler, Redick, Bayless, etc). They were not Finals contenders before this trade and it sets them up long term. Fultz is on the bubble now. He'll get more playing time to either step up his production or show they need to unload him also. I just can't see why this isn't a fantastic deal for the Sixers.
There is still time to finalize the roster if Butler indeed intends to sign long term there. You never know what's going inside his head in the offseason.
Before the season, everyone was saying "Boston to the Finals, easy peasy." Now, they're in danger of being the 4th best team in the East, after Toronto, Philly and Milwaukee. We're only about 10 games into the season. Crazy.
