I'm not understanding the takes that GS got worse? I don't think they're contenders again, but they definitely better.
Nobody was taking Bradley Beal, so he couldn't get to PHX?? Also, he's smart. He knows nobody is paying him $60M per in the offseason
How? They now have a bunch of guys who can't shoot. How does the offence work? Just play a zone where whomever is nearest Curry on the perimeter plays ball-denial. Warriors can't score.
All 30 teams would rather have Butler than Wiggins, including Golden State. I think you're overthinking. I'd make a tip-jar bet but it doesn't seem fair, and too random based on unknown strength of schedule and late season tanking.
Please point out where I said any team would rather have Butler over Wiggins? a. they are not the only 2 players involved in the trade b. my statement was about overall offence. I don't see the Warriors playing at top4 pace as a result of this trade. And lucky for them, they just spent $60M on a dude for each of the next 2 years. Wow. We've seen how this kind of wild move played out for the Suns the last couple of years. Let's watch it unravel for the Ws going forward.
I think it was a good trade. Jimmy is still just on another level from Wiggins. Maybe this is the last year or two that's the case but for one last shot at a deep playoff run they owe it to Steph to at least try. They also really didn't give up anything from their future. They still have all their young guys and I think they still have their future 1sts. My guess is Steph/Draymond/Jimmy just ride off into the sunset in 2027. Then they start a proper rebuild from the ground up the way they've seen other teams do it. Will Wiggins be better than Jimmy in 2027? Probably. But does it matter when your true star player will be on his last leg and soon retiring? They'll be ready to tank then.
NBA window dressing. Their West coast markets are tanking and they are in a panic. OKC being the best in the West doesn't make money. They are pumping hard on Sacramento, Lakers and Golden State. Chicago market is trash. Minnesota market feels betrayed (again). Phoenix was a lot of money spent to make a team with bad chemistry.
