Kings really have a mess of a roster right now. and I still don't get why the Kings went after Jimmer anyway.
Jimmer is much more of a scorer than Redick. Jimmer can create his own offense. I think the only reason the two are compared is because they are both white. Also, I think Jimmer is gonna be much better than Redick.
With the right (and willing) coach on a team with good offensive system, Jimmer could be a pretty stable NBA point guard. His basketball skills aren't limited enough to be strictly a specialist. Fredette has scoring ability, creativity with basketball, and is unselfish. Reddick remains a superior shooter, though in most other areas Fredette is simply a superior player.
The biggest hurdle he currently faces is that his ballhandling ability is just not good enough versus decent NBA defenses, and this makes most of his avenues of scoring considerably less efficient: creating separation for a quick shot, running the pick-and-roll, and driving to the basket. When he can get these parts of his game rolling he can still put up a lot of points, but otherwise, he's going to struggle, and he's just not a player you can leave on the floor if he's not putting the ball in the basket. It also certainly doesn't help that he went to the Kings, who don't seem to have any clue when it comes to player development. A change of scenery would probably be the best thing for him.
As much as I wanted to like Jimmer, the fact is that he shot 38.6% from the field last year. 38.6%. And we call him a scorer? If you make over 50% of your shots, then I say you can shoot as much as you darn well please. But no. 38.6%. Then again, that contract he signed as a kid was a promise to PLAY in the NBA, not SUCCEED in the NBA.
Don't assume that he's satisfied with how poorly he's played. I'm expecting improvement this season. He drained shots from 30 feet with regularity in college, but he can't make an open jump shot to save his life in the NBA. Hopefully it will 'click' at some point, but right now I think he's trying too hard to find some rhythm on that Kings team.
Isn't this like the 5th time they moved? Also-who changes conferences? They'd have to move a team from the Central to the Northwest and a Northwest to a pacific. Portland to Pacific, Bucks to Northwest, DC to Central, and Virginia to Southeast? That's a cluster****. Stern, for once do the right thing. Block this. If Chris Paul can't be a Laker, the Maloofs can't **** everything up.
