Who is the better Guitarist? Unarguably, these are two of the best rock guitarists of all time. One is the sound of the 60s who died far too young, while the other was the lead guitarist of one of the best bands ever, Led Zeppelin. They are both amazing, both influential, both some of the best ever. But who do YOU think is better? (if you don't know who these people are, you DON'T know music)
are you saying jimmy page=tim duncan? ouch. obviously hendrix will win this but page is my favorite guitarist of all time, whether he's technically the best or not doesn't really matter, his **** sounds awesome.
This is all about preference. I love them both, but prefer Page. HIs riffs were awesome. Again love them both. For the record, John Frusciante is my favorite.
A group of us were having dinner Saturday night in Frisco. A Janis Joplin song came on so a friend leans over and asked, "can you imagine her singing now?" "She probably wouldn't have a voice" I responed with a joking smile. Friend agreed with sad acknowledgement. My response not withstanding, my friend's question seems appropo here. I would have to vote for Page now because of his long history with the guitar. BUT, can you imagine Hendrix if he was still playing?
Hendrix was overrated, but then so was Page. Tough, tough call on the craptitude scale. I'll decide later.
I like Frusciante, but he's not even the best guitarist in the history of the RHCP's. Google Hillel Slovak.
This isn't even close. I remember watching a doco a few years ago and there was a club where all these famous musicians were hanging out. The Who and the Beatles were there. Hendrix got up and played, and they said they thought they were screwed because he was just on another level to anything they had ever heard. The other guys mentioned all all great, but Hendrix was just something else.
