Fatty, As a former Rover owner, I had my share of "technical" experiences, mine was an '01, which was supposed to be light years ahead of the 90's Discos as to reliability... I don't know where you're taking your Disco, but the Rover Shop around the corner from you worked on mine a ton and never charged me anything like what you're hinting at.
No one in the city charges $200/hr. Even the Benz and Porsche dealerships only charge $105-$115 hr. The highest I've seen was Gillman Acura up north, who get up to $119/hr.
Same here. I've been honest on this board about getting busted for DUI. It's not something I'm proud of, but I'm pretty lucky I didn't kill or maim anyone and myself. There are some circles who use it to brag about how much they can hold, and it's that mindset that conditions drunk drivers to push their tolerances to the limit. It's very much a mentality that sets people up to get caught or fall into something far more serious.
