I agree. And Ted DeLuca isn't much better, either. He seems like the nerd in school who is trying to make up for lost time in his adult years in an effort to be perceived as hip and cool. He tries to force that "J-Money" nickname onto Lopez so often that it makes me want to stab myself in the face with a fork. They are just brutal.
People just love to give the U.S american, jim rome, a hard time. The fact is, he revolutionized the world of sports talk by giving it dark humor. How many times do you see someone post... "signed" and " sincerely" followed by a reference to pop culture? Rome started all that. Plus, he embraces houston, unlike other evil doers from the bristol empire.
rome is on the forefront of sportstalk, but espn brought humor to sports. i used to love rome from 97-02, its just tired.
Both are absolutely horrid. I'm glad I live in Austin and don't have to face that choice on a daily basis. I used to like Rome and even went to the tour stop at MMP. Then, one day, I came to the realization that he was just bad, the callers were annoying, and there was something better. At the time, it was Dan Patrick. I love the MT & SVP show now. For those of us in Austin...how many of you kept listening to 1300 in the mornings to the (awful) Bucky & Bob show? If it wasn't for Astros & Longhorns games, I'd never turn 1300 on again.
if you live elsewhere and haven't heard monsters, please don't skew this poll by voting for Jim Rome in default. this is serious business, folks.
I listened to Rome back in the 90's. Me and my buddies would call each other at work and say "out" when we hung up, etc. We were totally into it. Like him or not, his show was very revolutionary. I still use the "sincerely" sign off bit on this bbs. I still think it's funny. I don't go out of my way to listen to any talk radio anymore. If I happen to be driving around, I'll listen to who ever doesn't have commercials. I think my discovery of the once great Phil Hendrie had a lot to do with it. He turned me onto how dull and cliched the whole genre is.
Due to work, I have not listened to rome since 2004. I really enjoyed his show, especially the non-sports takes.
Agreed. I used to make time in my day to watch Rome is Burning, now he just gets on my nerves. I forced to watch him with Rondo the other day, but the dude was so annoying I wanted to turn it off. He kept talking... and talking.. and his questions were nine minutes long. Let Rajon talk for crying out loud. The more you talk the less the kid will. Just drives me nuts.
wait, that stuff is annoying too. Rome is just so fake. I hate how he claims that the emails are stupid...he continues to read them.
Jim Rome has an opinion just like Charles Barkley and JT the Brick. Monsters of the Midday gets owned by 17 year old callers because they dont know **** about sports
i dont really like JT the Brick, but i like the third shift. they're pretty good. Karen Kay sounds hot, but i bet she isnt.
