He's pursuing other stuff because right now because the money he gets from that is sizable compared to his actual NBA paycheck. His mini-celebrity status allows him to earn money outside of basketball that is not insignificant. But let's not kid ourselves. Once Parsons' pay increase to $10+mil/yr, those other stuff will pale in comparison to his NBA check and he'll be more inclined to play another 15 years instead of pursuing other interest.
