Nothing to get. At one time he was tolerable b/c it was something new and different. Those days are gone. Bottom line, he is a hypocrite, ass kissing, phony dip **** with a tired act.
I truly wish Rome was burning! Can't stand the guy, His show isn't bad. He's just way to full of himself. I do enjoy some of his guests and a few of his callers.
If he can be Pancho, why can't I be Tyrone? How proud he must be to be Michael's dad... ...absolute old school Rome classics!!!
are you new to the show? I've been listening to the Jungle for seven years. I like the Jungle. I don't like it much like I used to though.
I miss Niems. We haven't heard that song since John Daly's infamous "You Don't Know Me" number started getting played nearly every day. My favorite Rome soundbyte to this day is still that Mills Lane take on Mike Tyson.
I listened to Rome for about 6 months before it got old... haven't listened to him in a few years now.
The absolute hardest I have ever laughed at his show. That followed by the Shawn Marion interview. Anyone remember that? "Um huh, uh yeah"
I don't understand how Rome ever got a job in radio. I listen to him sometimes when I'm driving home from college because he's usually the only thing good on when I get out of class, but the way he does those pauses every two seconds is so pointless and irritating. Is there a story about why he does those pauses so often? Is he trying to be dramatic or what?
Credit where credit is due, he is a self promoter who used that to get a national radio job. However, that endless self promotion also turns people off. Sometimes immediately, sometimes after hearing too much of him. That is something you deal with if you like him I guess. But how many times can you listen to a guy say one thing and then either days or months later (some times years) completely change his view b/c it now benefits him. Rome '99: "I pimp absolutely nothing. I can not be bought." Rome '01: "This is Jim Rome for Mindspring, anyone who knows me knows I pimp absolutely nothing..." Rome '02: "This is Rome for Myoplex..." Rome '02: "This is Rome for Theragesic..." Rome '02: "This is Rome for Autozone..." and so on and so on...what is next the penile enlarger?? Rome '99: "NASCAR is not a sport. All they do is make left turns, feel free to mix in a right once in a while..." Rome '01: "I am here with one of the greatest ever in his sport Jeff Gordon..." (as well as many other NASCAR issues) Rome '00: "Charles Barkley is a joke..." Rome '01: "I want to welcome Carles Barkley into the Jungle..." after the interview, "stand up guy. Love him..." Then the straw that broke the camel's back: Super Bowl '03 (Monday after): "Dude was on a bender in TJ. The biggest game in his career, and what is dude doing? Dude is drunk watching a donkey show.... " Super Bowl '03 (Wednesday after): "No one should rush to judgement on this guy. He has an illness, a disease. My wife has had to deal with this illness, and it is tough. Any of his teammates or anyone who rushes to judgement are just wrong...." THAT MEANS YOU A$$HOLE ! ! Look at what you said 2 days ago!
Funny, TheHorns. I remember he did a whole show talking about how bad gambling on sports is and how it can ruin your life. Yeah, right. How many times have you heard an online gambling site advertised on his show? Plus, you guys know that Travis writes all his material right? All of it.
Dude, I swear that Marion must've been sniffing glue when he did that interview Most of the stuff he said was intelligible at best. I still like the show, but it's nothing like it used to be.
You can tell what he is saying is written. One time he was talking about a kick to win a game (but of course he was building it up)and he said: "....even in the swirling wind (wine - d) he made... umm check that.. swirling wind (win - d)." "Don't - read - your - takes. That is why we have a fax...." Another perfect example of him being a hypocrite. Back when I listened I noticed that his Rome Update at 6:00pm was verbatim, a take from during the show. (but not and actual cut from the show)
Rome has the ability to be ultra annoying but some of his stuff is hilarious. When he replays sound bytes over and over I can't stop laughing.
thanks, id never seen that before, but heard all about it. rome is a smart-ass and got what he deserved.
No, I listen to it every couple of months but the time I can actually stand to listen to it nowadays is in the 15-30 minute range. Anything after that and I want to go postal! No disrespect intended to the U.S. Post Office..... Jim Everett(former Rams QB) should have finished him off back in the day! "Rack this beeyotch....."
