in other news, Bostjan Nachbar has been traded to Cleveland for Anderson Varejo. The Knicks are also in talks to trade guard Moochie Norris for Chicago's Kirk Hienrich. :p

Jacobson has more upside that Jackson (I like JJ btw - but this is just my opinion about this deal) and they play basically the same position. Unless the Suns make another deal for a big man, all they did was make their team older without adding any depth at the right posts

I think Jackson would have been better in Miami

supposedly the suns did this because their bench sucked. basically they feel that jacobsen, lampej, and the other dude sucked. JJ is not a star but coming off the bench he should be pretty effective. i always though Jacobsen had some game but Phoenix is supposed to have the worst bench in the league so perhaps jacobsen is pretty bad.

I'm sorry - but have you guys watched a basketball game???

Saying that Jacobsen + Lampe + cap fodder are "clearly" better than Jackson (or Wesley) is lunacy!!

Both Wesley and Jackson have proved that they are capable starters in the NBA, and both have reasonable skill sets! Lampe and Jacobsen are "potential" at best - they've both bounced around the league a little (even in their short careers) and neither has cemented a starting spot (even when playing on some pretty crappy teams)

Sure Jacobsen can shoot - but he's not quick and, when watching him, you don't think "there's a guy who's got something" - and Lampe - well, I haven't had the "privilege" of watching him - but the pre-draft wraps on him were that he wasn't going to make it as a NBA player because he is so slow - and looking at his "performance" (especially on a team with no bigs) doesn't say much for him....

I think the Suns made a good deal - trading a bunch of scrubs for a decent backup!

Think about it - if we could offload Barrett, Weatherspoon and Padgett (todays winner aside) for someone like Battier or Posey, tell me you wouldn't be thrilled!!

Jackson deserved a better fate than New Orleans and I'm glad he's with a contender at the later stage of his career; I'm also starting to appreciate Wesley's ability to get up the court on the few fast breaks that the Rockets execute and his J is starting to come around. I hated the Rocket trade with the Hornets at first but with the combination of Wesley, Sura and Barry I honestly think the team plays with more cohesiveness and they're scrappier and have better ball movement.

I'm really starting to like our lineup especially once Strickland gets his J going and I hope Sura's knee holds up. I think JJ and the Rockets are better off and I sure didn't feel that way initially.

Lets not forget that New Orleans also sent (to Phoenix) a 2nd round draft pick along with JJax to complete this deal. I do not know if it is there 2nd round pick or someone else but if it theirs it could be as high as 35th pick in this upcoming and fully loaded draft.

PS. Dadakota, I feel your pain :D

I would be thrilled, but Battier and Posey are both several years younger than Jackson and Wesley.

It's dissapointing that the Hornets were still able to get a good deal for JJ even after his holdout. Jacobsen, Lampe, and Vroman bring outside shooting, youth, energy and athleticism. Those are qualities the Rockets could really use.

The Hornets got a good deal, but you're pretty far off on this one.

Lampe hasn't shown much in the NBA, and certainly would not be in the Rockets rotation. Ditto Vroman. Both of these guys were 2nd rounders. The Hornets could afford to sling mud at the wall, and see if any of it sticks; we can't.

Jacobsen would be nice, but guys like him are always available. He plays next to zero defense- even by Phoenix's standards. It should be fairly telling that he wasn't logging even 20 minutes a game, given how thin Phoenix is. If you want a young shooter, they're almost always available in the late first/2nd round (Jacobsen, Korver, Kapono, Rush). All 4 of the aftorementioned guys are actually free agents this summer. (Korver/Kapono=restricted, Jacobsen/Rush=unrestricted).

Ok then - PJ Brown - I was simply trying to think of a moderate starter....

My point is that three bench scrubs for a starter (even a borderline one) would be a great deal. Even if that player is on the decline!
