Hey this move is not much, but it's better than anything else they've done this off season. Maybe Amechi means they plan to move Cato. He's got some real value.

I like the signing of JJ. I feel confident with him as our starting 3.

He played very well for the Kings last year.

This deal sucks because we still have to pay Amaechi's 5 million a year for 2 more years plus we gave up a 1st rounder for 2 second rounders plus we did not have to trade Rice to sign Jackson. This move is nothing more than trimming salery in an attempt to put more money in Les's pockets. This move sucks!

Cat is getting more and more tradable every day.

I wonder.... What will a Cat and a 6.5 million dollar trade exception get these days?

What position did jackson play for the kings? it was SG right? he played when christie was injured. They had Peja and Hedo for small forward.. Not the best move... but I like him as a player.

5 mill? how sure are you on those numbers?

    according to the Chron...Rice's 9 mill - Amechi's salary = 6.5 mil left over.

So how much is Amechi really getting?

Yes, now wouldn't that swing the emotions of the bbs, eh.

    Cato+Mobley?? Shhh...don't tell anyone.

What we lose in NBA draft discussions we gain in trade discussions for the next few months with that hefty exception.

    1) Amaechi will cost us $2.6 this yr and $2.8 the next.

    2) We can sign JJ but you don't want to sign JJ and still keep Rice. $9.6 mil is not chump change!!

    3) There is nothing wrong for an owner to save money. If he has money, he might be able to afford a nice FA later.

i like it, rice can shoot threes but thats it, ill take the more well rounded player in jackson anyday. and for the mid-level? thats a fricken steal for a guy averaging 15 ppg in his career. Amaechi is crap but i consider what we are paying him to be indirect pay towards jim. it also leaves us more room to do that essential signing of yao in two years or if griffin has an amazing year.

as the article says, jim jackson will be playing sf, so i dont really see him doing the 2, if anything it solidifies pikes backup role there. all in all, this balances all the positions out much better than we had before.

if anything, ill be looking forward to amaechi replacing collier as the brunt of all our jokes as the most useless rocket.

Rice's contract was up after this year anyway.

And we'll still be over the cap next year. Even moreso with Amechis contract.

    sorry, no KG.

Or building on the O'Neal angle, and the recent ESPN article about KG wanting to play with Yao and Steve:

    Cat/Griffin/Cato for O'Neal, then O'Neal+ for KG?

    Wow. This could get interesting.

What promise did Indiana make to O'Neal?

Sure that would turn this whole scenario around but does anyone really beleive that this is going to happen?
