hey Ottomaton, you do recognize a difference between a hobby and a profession don't yah? i do lotsa things in my hobby that no sensible pro would seriously consider. being a professional MEANS you do it for money. comes a point in all money careers where you'll question the worth. aint nutting wrong with that.
So the trip to China in the pre season doesn't mean a thing? I thought everyone bonded , stayed together and lived happily ever after! Damn, life is hard!
I'm just gonna say this to JJ: why make yourself unhappy because of someone(some organization in this case) who doesn't deserve your attention or love? Move on. Make plans for the future...
This is a business! People get traded because they are not wanted anymore! I am sure he will be okay. He aint broke!
Imagine if you took a job for less money or for the same amount of money as another job thinking it was more secure or because it was a shorter cummute, then the company relocates you to another state the following year. How would you feel? CD is known to wine and dine people making them think they are family. I remember there were references to it in the press for JVG, Yao, Francis, Cat and MoT. I imagine he did the same for JJ also. Now he trades them away without being man enough to tell them what they were going to do. No agent or player will ever trust CD the same way again, and hopefully it doesn't bite us in ass with Yao.
??? Why are you folks not understanding what Max is saying? Yeah, JJ is perfectly right in being pissed off. Yeah, he has every right to retire at this point if he wants. Yeah, the situation as a whole sucks for him. But how does a player getting traded somehow make the Rockets underhanded and shady? Stupid for a lame trade - sure, that's certainly an arguable point. But JJ is a good player (but not great) with a decent contract and desired talents. He was, basically, the only tradeable asset we had. This has been his situation from the beginning...and it's probably the main reason he's been traded so much. The curse of being only good, not great, and an all-purpose player without the demands of a superstar. I can understand completely why Jackson is upset - I would be too. But the Rockets haven't suddenly done something 'shady' or underhanded by simply trading a player.
That's my point exactly. It appears that this is not a passion or a love for him, but only a career. I would feel much more sympathetic if this were a guy doing what he loved and was somehow being forced out or screwed. Instead, he was provided a change of working conditions that were not viewed favorably by him. These changes were entirely within the terms of the collective barganing agreement and the contract that he signed. He is the one who has decided to not live up to the terms of the contract . Depending on the industry, some people would be sued for breaking a contract for a work condition change that was reasonable, common, and within the terms of the contract. (Specifically, I'm thinking of doctors who sign contracts with rural hospitals and leave because of a change in management or work conditions weren't what they expected.) He has decided to change careers. Personally, I find the reasons that he did so to be contemptable, but I appreciate that people at different places in life do things for different reasons. Furthermore, in the month of February (the latest period reporting), 130,423 people were layed off from their careers in mass layoff actions, not given a chance to continue to work under conditions they found less favorable. I feel sympathy for these people. I also feel sympathy for the 10 day contract guys who have to return to the NDBL or go to play in Singapore when they've spent every day of their lives dreaming of playing in the NBA, and not because they wanted the paycheck. I don't feel sympathy for guys who've had long careers, and have decided to hang it up. I understand it and have no malace towards them, but don't ask me to feel sorry for JJ or understand how anybody could feel he was disrespected because his employer did something to him that is done regularly and is allowed under the terms of his employment.
I am wondering if the Hornets would take some of our trade exception to cover Jim Jacksons cotract and JJ could come back to the Rockets. This is assuming the JJ wants to play for the Rockets and if the Rockets would want him back. They should defintely want him back.
I think Les and CD won't get the fact that the fans are pissed at the organization until we chant it at a game. I want some changes, but not people that are 30-52. I thought Nachbar would stay around, because he was one of our younger players and we don't have alot of them. If I was Jimmy I would be pissed, and would be thinking about retiring too. You can't blame him you've got to point it all at the Rockets. I guess all the "loyalty" that we used to have left to LA with Rudy T.
I'm still trying to figure out how we acquired Drexler in 1995. Or Barkley in 1997. Or how we almost lost Horry in 1994. Or how we acquired Francis in 1999. Or how we received McGrady in 2004.
I think of Anna Nicole Smith she married an older guy she didn't love for his money She didnt technically do anything wrong. . but it is still sleazy to me HEY INSIDE SCOOP ON JJ GUYU: Could u clarify one thing for me. . . since u the one to ask TONI BRAXTON!!!!!
