and again, you conveniently ignore the fact that the rockets severly lacked offensive threats on offense...especially a proven and reliable 3rd scorer.

Well when JVG actually starts DOING what you think he is doing let me know.

With a roster that he had a HEAVY hand in helping create.

    Two separate issues.

There's not a coach on earth who makes the PG spot filled by Rafer, JL3, and VMac look good.

You look at the potential of what maybe could've been. I look at the reality: Rafer is mediocre (to be kind), VMac wasn't cut out for the NBA, and JL3 is a 3rd string PG.

So no, the point guard issue wasn't on JVG. As for not making the Mike James move in season, it's cutting off your nose to spite your face -- we'd then have a gaping void up front. That becomes a bigger problem given the susceptibility of both Yao and Trucky to foul trouble. The depth sucked; we've been devoid of talent for awhile, and we assumed JL3 coming off a spectacular summer league and Spanoulis coming off the ooh's and ah's against the USA would be more than enough behind or even in front of Rafer. Turns out they both sucked. We didn't have the depth to patch the area up.

I know you love to stab JVG in the eye, but the roster is ultimately on the GM. Period. No mas.

Hence, Uncle Morey gets us 3 shiny new PGs, acquires a PF at the top of the 2nd round, and adds Scola.

Not much to argue with there, I do think that you could have put Tmac at the point for around 12-15 minutes a game and let Rafer rest, if you didn't believe in any of the other PGs...but whatever.

I would have made the James deal because Howard and Rafer were holes and at least with James one of them would have been filled.

Deron had good games, but to say he killed us is a bit of an exaggeration considering what Boozer did against us.

    GAME 7
    Boozer: 35 pts, 14 rebs, 5 ast
    Williams: 20 pts, 2 rebs, 14 ast

I bet a lot of those Deron assists came from Boozer torching us. Regardless, the inability to stop Boozer clearly was our biggest weakness.

It was a two man game, with Williams and Boozer, that is what killed us....
