This is basically what her comments amounted to (i.e. that the world would be better off if Judaism became non-existant). This is false, and somewhat offensive to me. I am a Jew, and I've "spoken out against her," as have many other Jews, I'm sure. What's a shame is that you think that certain Jewish political organizations speak for all Jews.
I really don't see what the fuss is about. One of the problems with this is the misinterpretation of her phrasing of "Jews becoming Perfected". The more common terming is "A completed Jew", and this is mostly used within Jewish Groups who do believe in Christs Resurrection and sanctification of of both Jews and Gentiles. Look, the first group the Apostles, who were Jews, spoke to about Jesus were other Jews, some rejected Him and some accepted. Obviously, there were also conversions of Gentiles (Everybody who wasn't Jewish) and thus was the forming of Christianity. It is easy in our pluralistic society to call Christians bigots and zealots and the such just because the voice what they believe, and I understand it if you have strong beliefs to the contrary, but ultimately Christians believe that the only reason they are on this earth is to introduce and help others see who Jesus was, why he died for mankind, and what his resurrection means to our lives and eternity. This is what she was trying to say in her brash way. I know some Christians are over eager, rude and don't communicate effectively, ex Anne Coulture, but ultimately humans are flawed and that is the beauty of the freeing life one can lead in Christ and the beauty is you don't have to waste my time Judging people like Anne Coulter, or anybody else.
Personally, I can't see how a religious person doesn't feel that another person would be better off belonging to his/her religion. If a Christian doesn't think a person's better off as a Christian than any other belief, then why he be a Christian in the first place? Why not just be agnostic, never have to spend any time in Church or live according to the bible? Wouldn't everything you do for your religion be pointless if it does not positively affect you in any given way? I agree that this statement in of itself doesn't deserve such criticism. But, coming from someone like Ann Coulter, it does warrant a ton of criticism. Of course, it also gives her a ton of free publicity too...
Ok, I don't get this. if you're Christian, and you don't think everyone is best served by your religion then: a) You either don't fully buy it or b) You dont believe that it is a message sent from your creator or c) You think that some people deserve to be part of it and some don't or d) You are trying to say soemthing I'm just not quite understanding
I think Jesus was emphasizing something a little more important than just what goofy man-made sect to join.
"Religion is hate Religion is fear Religion is war Religion is rape Religion's obscure Religion's a w****" - Slayer Hundreds of years from now (if Muslims don't kill us all by then), when our ancestors look back they'll be amazed/disgusted by how people actually believed such ridiculous stuff. "Know Gods, No Peace. No Gods, Know Peace." PS - I'm entirely against the Death Penalty, but I would make an exception for Ann Coulter.
Are you that big of a f***ing moron? You do realize that "Mexican" and "Asian" aren't religions, right? Why can't you follow a religion and just understand that it's what's best for you? I don't understand this idea that you can't be of one religion and not want it for everyone else. I am jewish and I understand that it's what's best for my family. Be whatever makes you happy and fills whatever void in your life that you need religion for. Some of us are intelligent enough to understand that not one religion is right for everyone.
coulter is a tool but.... why is everyone shocked she would say that. almost all devout religious types think theirs is better then everyone else's. plus aren't christians, in their opinion, reformed jews. jew 2.0 if you will. also i've seen the video and i thought donny(jew) was baiting her. she actually answered his question(stupid question/stupid answer) but it wasn't much. he kept on and on until he got the answer he wanted. he was desperately pressing her to say it and she did. then he says he is appaled and offended she said it. he also played(said it) the anti-semetic card really really quickly. coulter is an a-hole. donny usually not. but in that converstation they both acted like a-holes.
This post makes it seem like you have a very simplistic understanding of faith (and religion), so of course you wouldn't get it... Sorry.
Well well, someone's mommy and daddy didnt teach him any manners. I was not referring Asian, and mexican has "religions". My point was she said something derogatory/ offensive towards jews and now we are all suppose to be outraged. But if she had said something 10 times as offensive towards Asians or mexicans like "lets deport all of em back to where they came from", no one would give a crap.
Funny... I could've said the same thing about your post, but chose to discuss it rather than call you simple. Silly me. My bad.
I made a point of not calling you simple. But no, you could not have said the same thing about my post. It would not have made sense. I didn't try to generalize an entire faith or narrow someone else's beliefs into a multiple choice question. Do you realize how arrogant and idiotic it is to think you can easily understand what I believe or how I believe it?
I really, really (add really about 50 more times) dislike Ann Coulter, and I think she's a hateful person and a terrible representive of Christianity. That said, I think this is getting overblown, is not anti-Semitic, and can actually kind of see what she's saying. The word 'perfected' has a far different meaning in Biblical language than it does today. Any time you read the word perfect in the Bible, it does not mean 'without fault' as we've come to understand the term. What it meant then was 'complete'. I don't think that either a Jew or a Christian will argue that the Messiah will make their salvation complete (or perfected). It's just that Christian's believe they've been already perfected, while Jews are still waiting for their perfector to come. I'm a Christian, and I would like to see everyone that I know become a Christian. If I don't believe it is the right way, then why would I practice it? Now, I'm not advocating any ill will toward non-Christians because they disagree with me, but I don't see Coulter saying that either.
I realize I'm mixing centuries here. Jesus said ~"I am the way, the truth and the light." Did he not mean it?
