Do you even know what semantics are? You might want to look it up.

That aside, you still haven't provided one iota of evidence for your paranoid claims--a pretty standard requirement for any argument.

I'd say it's a natural self defense mechanism. The optimist in me says that we can one day break out of it. I won't teach my kids to hate anybody... unless they play for the Utah Jazz.

why don't you provide me w/ the evidence of what semantics is, over a series of several posts......and then i can ignore it all and keep calling you strawman :D

what is the origin of strawman anyways.....do they hail from the same region as the waxman's and the goldman's? :D

Since this is obviously news to you, please try not to respond with fallacious arguments that only defect from any point you try to make.

"We have forgotten that we have not come to an empty land to inherit it, but we have come to conquer a country from people inhabiting it, that governs it by the virtue of its language and savage culture..." - Moshe Sharett

"We must continually raise the demand that our land be returned to our possession .... If there are other inhabitants there, they must be transferred to some other place. We must take over the land. We have a great and NOBLER ideal than preserving several hundred thousands of [Palestinian] Arabs fellahin [peasants]." - Manachem Ussishkin

"There is no choice: the Arabs must make room for the Jews of Eretz Israel. If it was possible to transfer the Baltic peoples, it is also possible to move the Palestinian Arabs." - Ze'ev Jabotinsky

"Palestine proper has already its inhabitants. The pashalik of Jerusalem is already twice as thickly populated as the United States, having fifty-two souls to the square mile, and not 25% of them Jews ..... [We] must be prepared either to drive out by the sword the [Arab] tribes in possession as our forefathers did or to grapple with the problem of a large alien population, mostly Mohammedan and accustomed for centuries to despise us." - Israel Zangwill

"Palestine thinly populated, in which the Jews constituted today 10 percent of the population, must be evacuated for the Jews." - Hahman Syrkin

"There are now only five hundred [thousand] Arabs, who are not very strong, and from whom we shall easily take away the country if only we do it through stratagems [and] without drawing upon us their hostility before we become a the strong and papules ones." - Yehiel Michal Pines

If you don't know who any of these people are, please leave this debate now.

This is clear evidence that "Zionist Jews plotted for decades to take land from Arabs".

Would you mind providing citations for these quotes? It would seem that their contexts are paramount for this discussion. Thanks!

Each one of those quotes can be Googled by you whenever you wish. The context won't change any of those words and the meanings behind them.

Most of the quotes are either from Righteous Victims by Benny Morris or Expulsion of the Palestinians by Nur Masalha.

The quote by Hahman Syrkin is from his pamphlet entitled The Jewish Question and the Socialist Jewish State (1898). Hahman Syrkin is the founder of Socialist Zionism.

Do your own work next time you try to prepare a rebuttal.

Benny Morris is good for Israelis. In an era when they are becoming less and less introspective, he makes them think about their own faults. But you are making a mistake if you read his books uncritically. In a very general way like someone like As'ad AbuKhalil, if you've ever read "The Angry Arab" write about Lebanon.

Funny, but non responsive. It is good to have some balanced Jews who can see things more clearly than a simplistic position that any criticism of the nuts who have taken over Israel in the last 40 years is somehow anti-semitic anti-Israeli or whatever.

As I said I am against a state in Palestine that favors Jews over non Jewish Palestinians. Hopefully you are not in favor of non-native Americans having superior rights to native Americans.

You consider any differing opinion to yours to be "simplistic." I have criticized Israeli actions and policies countless times on here. You, however, only offer one-sided "insight" and "facts" for your own personal agenda... just like Basso.

Can you please tell me where I can find the state of Palestine on a map? I'm having a hard time. I didn't realize that this state in Palestine currently favored jews... ITS CALLED ISRAEL.

Do you refuse to call it Israel? It appears that the same loonies that created that bogus "war crime" report for the U.N. did the same damn thing. Stop this nonsense already.

No I don't refuse to call it Israel. I was referring to the geographical area. I suppose it could be called Israel and still have full rights for non-Jews someday.
We will leave that up to the folks living there to decide it democratically.

In reality I think it is support like yours that makes the "one state solution" more likely every day as the time for the "two state solution" is frittered away. Hopefully you have seen some Jewish commentators who think this, too.

I'm assuming your discussion is about whether the land was sought for decades, etc.. Unless I misunderstood, this is quite clear:

Again, its the surprise factor more than anything. Israel owns the world's best anti-missile and air force technology. It has (literally) enough nuclear warheads to wipe every human off the face of the earth. More importantly, its capabilities are SO mythologized (as u put it) that engaging in war with them is, in my opinion, stupid.

The only times they have ever been worried is when they were caught off-guard, i.e., Hizbollah's support from their Iranian friends. Coincidentally (yeah right), that was also when Israel decided that the Iranian threat is so huge that Iran may need to be nuked.

I agree that the "Arabs" are responsible for not having their own state right now. But I'm sure you understand that no one on God's green earth would accept a two-state solution when just yesterday, the entire state belonged to them.

Still, I disagree that Israel could have been defeated at the very beginning. Also, it's not the Arabs. It was mainly Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Egypt as I recall. One of those coutnries has dissapeared, two have signed peace treaties and the 4th is on the "axis of evil".

The United States extending its hand to Palestine was honestly a sham in itself. Much like extending its hand to Iraq was a sham during the Iran-Iraq war. They were instrumental in creating the problem and then offered a solution at an unreasonably high cost. Half of the land.

I'd like to repeat again and again I am fully aware of the incompetence and stupidity of the Arab nations.

But to get an idea of how I see Israel with regards to strength... Think "too big to fail."

Both of these are not true. They have second tier technology in both instances.

Not true. Their arsenal is supposedly on par with India and Pakistan, and there is really some question whether their one joint test with South Africa was even really a completely successful detonation. Again, they are very good at making you think they have a massive, super effective nuclear arsenal, mostly by acting coy and dropping hints.
