The first field goal miss was nothing to be ashamed about. The second one didn't have a chance, though. Since I absolutely don't care about either team I'm just glad it was a good game.

    yeah not quite Norwood-esque

the 47 yarder ....hey thats a tough one ...not a gimme by any means

the 43 yarder .....much more makeable....but he wasn't even close

isn't Heinz Field a notoriously bad field for kickers? (i.e Kris Brown)

These playoffs have been amazing so far... 3 of the 5 games coming down to the last play, and the other two have shown the excellence of Payton Manning, and the idiocy (and excellence) of Randy Moss.

Lets home STL-ATL keeps it goin.

The Jets had plenty of timeouts if I recall correctly and wasted way too much time, satisfied with a 40+ yarder for their kicker. I realize they didn't want to risk a turnover, but I still don't understand why they didn't try to get a few more running plays in there. That dumpoff pass to Martin got them a first, and after that, they were content with where they were.

Too bad the kicker is going to be mercilessly brutalized by the press in New York.

Agreed... the Jets offense will hear plenty of blame as well. They only put up THREE points on the Pittsburgh D. I know their D is good, but if you only get three offensive points, you really don't deserve to win the game.

Hell... even if Brien makes the FG, that's only 6 offensive points.

Frankly, the Jets were lucky to be in the position they were in. Rothlesberger almost choked the game away for Pitt, but their defense showed up when they needed to in OT.

The Steelers looked rusty from their time off. I expect them to get back to form next week. Bring 'em on!

I dunno... they looked pretty much the same the last time they played the Jets.

Also, Rothlesberger was OBVIOUSLY psyched out in the fourth quarter when he was overthrowing guys by 15 yards (and one of them resulting in an interception that should have cost them the game).

If do give their defense all the credit in the world, however... they cause so much disruption that it will be hard for any offense to get into a rhythym with them. (unless Peyton abuses NE tommorow... then there's nothing stopping that juggernaut).

Herman Edwards has Pennington take a knee before the kick to end regulation, and the lose a yard.. That kick hits the crossbar. Thats a huge mistake by Herman Edwards/Pennington. That 1 yard cost the the playoffs...

As for the Steelers, they ran the ball very well. Over 150 yards on the groud as a team. They have 2 big time backs, and Cowher keeps one guy fresh for 4th quarter. Duce was a monster in the 4th qtr and OT.

You're mixed up with your chain of events...

NY attempted a 47 yard FG with 2 minutes left in regulation... and THAT kick hit the crossbar.

Steelers get the ball, and the next play Big Ben throws an INT.

NY gets the ball, drives it down to the 25 with 6 seconds left. Then, Herman has Pennington take a knee to get it to around 3-4 seconds (to ensure that Pitt won't get the ball back), and they lose a yard.

Then Brien attempts the FG and its wide left... and it had the distance (thus, the one yard was not a big deal).

    Agreed.

At the very least you run that ball to the middle of the field... if not just kick it on third down to prevent a botched snap.

Grrr. My darkhorse pick is RUINED.

And with their first pick in the 2005 NFL draft the Jets select Mike Nugent, Kicker, the Ohio State University.

    :)

The Jets had every chance and blew it. Big Ben finally looked like a rookie QB.

Who knows what to expect form the Steelers next week, but I would guess they will bew fine.

    Hey Pimp,

Being a Steelers fan, can you tell me what has happened to Kendrell Bell? This dude was like their best defensive player 2 years ago and now he is no longer starting?? What's up with that?

The guy is like Vince Carter....an injury waiting to happen. He just can't beat the bug right now.

Ah, that explains it. So if he was 100% healthy, he would be a starter?
