Yep it was all Percy's fault the Hawks got beat down by the Boys. I do remember some reciever jawing to Wilson on the sideline, was that Harvin?
No, Doug Baldwin Spoiler <iframe class="vine-embed" src="https://vine.co/v/OAVMng6piIi/embed/simple" width="600" height="600" frameborder="0"></iframe><script async src="//platform.vine.co/static/scripts/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Did you not see the super bowl... An argument can be made that Percy was the MVP of the super bowl. He changed the entire dynamic of their offense. To win a championship and than be able to dump him (and get a pick in return) is probably well worth it. I'm sure the owner isn't complaining at all.
You can't get from 10 pieces away to 0 pieces away without making any moves. The Jets have plenty of cap space and a serious lack of offensive playmarkers - if they can use him effectively, Harvin's a good fit there and is under contract for another 4 years.
The pick is between 2 and 4. Way too high for a team that can be at the top of the draft. It literally could be the 1st pick in the 2nd round. This would have made more sense for contender (Patriots) or a borderline team that needs WRs (Texans). Desperation move by Rex to try to save his job.
It could be, but the Jets record is also a bit misleading. They have 6 losses, but 5 are to almost certain playoff teams, and they've been pretty competitive in several of them. Their schedule gets a hell of a lot easier now with just 1 or 2 playoff teams left. I suspect they end up their usual 7-9 type record they've had the last several years - bad, but not top-of-the-draft bad. But yeah, it depends to some extent on what the conditions are for the 2nd vs 4th round pick. I think that's true if Harvin was only around for 1 year, but with 4 years left, he's a guy they can build around to some extent. Even if they draft a WR next year with that pick, rookie WRs rarely make much impact, so you're probably looking at 2016 or 2017 to find a potential playmaker if he pans out. Harvin gets you the playmaker now - if, of course, he can stay healthy. Certainly possible, but that's a bad GM if that's the case - Rex shouldn't have personnel control to do that, especially given that he's on the hot seat.
If Rex had control of personnel the Jets probably wouldn't be $20 million under the cap. I wonder what's the parameters of that conditional pick. I think it was a good move for both sides.
Just saw on TV (FS1 or ESPN) where Harvin gave Golden Tate a black eye during the week before the Super Bowl.
Harvin was a locker room problem and wasn't productive. I seriously doubt this move will imoact any game against the Forty Whiners.
As one source explained it to PFT on Friday evening, the Seahawks possibly feared that Harvin had sufficient influence over enough of the locker room to launch a mutiny against quarterback Rusell Wilson, who despite not yet getting a franchise-quarterback contract possibly has become the target of some resentment among players who don’t share his complete devotion to the game, and who regard the third-year quarterback as a player-coach. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/18/chemistry-concerns-caused-seahawks-to-dump-harvin/
