And apparently THC was inside a lot of his disciples when they got annointed with oils. This kind of reminds me of some people's visceral reaction when cannabis pipes were found at Stratford-upon-Avon. What is the big problem if Jesus and the disciples use mar1juana in some form? I'd think Jesus wouldn't have much of a problem with it. To borrow from Bill Hicks: "Y'know, you're at a ball game, you're at a concert someones is really violent agressive obnoxnious drunk or smoking pot? Drunk. Never have I seen people on pot get in a fight because, it's impossible. "Hey buddy? Hey what?" End of argument."
depends on the reason. it's a reflection of your priorities in life if you decide to not goto Church because there's a football game on. if you view Church and Christianity as nothing more than rituals, then missing a service to watch the football game isn't a big deal for you. If you view going to Church as just one part of being a Christian, then most likely you will be willing ot miss that football game for Church.
I'm honestly not sure if there is a problem or not, though the fact that mar1juana has some mild mind altering abilities probably would make this a no-no. Whatever the case, the article is serisouly twisting words.
whether or not Jesus' particiaption in Passover observances and attending Jewish Synagogues in an attempt to reach the chosen people can be considered rituals -- when people were healed by Jesus they were not in the context of any type of ritual, dumping oil on them or burning incense. They were more often spontaneous reactions to someone in need -- some of the healings he was not even present for (speak the work and he shall be healed).
So, I have a question: If Michael Jackson can refer to wine as "Jesus Juice", can I refer to my stash as "Jesus Herb"? Inquiring minds want to know!
Works for me! I wonder if I need to say a blessing before I partake?? I guess I'd better ask my Rabbi.......

Are there any Biblical injunctions against mar1juana or any other psychoactive drugs for that matter? I understand that Islam forbids intoxicants but clearly the Bible, both New and Old Testaments, don't. For that matter would someone living in Biblical Judea had known that there was psychoactive properties in mar1juana or even had considered those properties negatively? I think it might be a twist to say Jesus used weed to heal but it doesn't seem like a stretch that he might've used it or that it was considered negative.
I cant say for sure that there were no mind altering drugs mentioned in the Bible. For some reason, I have a feeling there might be some sort of hint about it. Cant say for certain though. Keep in mind though, that just becasue it is a description of something doesnt mean the Bible condones it. I'm not so sure about the Islam thing though, isn't there quite a bit of Hashish usage in the Arabic community?
Genesis 1:29 And God said, Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
For those of you looking for a discussion of how various religions treat psychoactives, I highly recommend Jacob Sullum's "Saying Yes." He has an entire chapter devoted to how different religions treat psychoactives. Most of the examples deal with alcohol, but some of them talked about other drugs as well. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/15...104-1493544-0836751?s=books&v=glance&n=283155 In fact, the excerpted chapter at amazon deals with this specific topic.
biblical injunctions against getting drunk...i presume you can extrapolate out and say the same about getting high.
However, those injunctions are about getting overly drunk, not drinking at all. Temperence, when mentioned in the Bible, is about refraining from getting falling down drunk, not refraining from imbibing in the first place.
i don't think it's falling down drunk. it's being drunk, generally. but i agree...temperance isn't frowned upon. to the extent it impairs your thinking, i think that's where the Bible says to cut it off. but it also says not to do something that would be a stumbling block to others, even though it's permissive. if my drinking a little causes someone to drink a lot...to the point of excess...then that's a problem. or if my drinking in someway dimishes my relationship with God in the eyes of someone else, then it's a problem.
