Well, the Lakers only had Magic because the Jazz signed Gail Goodrich from them. And the Kobe/Shaq thing - Shaq wanted to leave - but the Lakers don't have the cap space to sign him if they don't pull off the Vlade deal - which was arranged a week before the draft - and end up with the second piece of their championship duo. West's rep was pretty much made with that one move.
