To honor Sloan, watch the 1995 series against Utah. <object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vX4jslhw2_A?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vX4jslhw2_A?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object> http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=1995+game+four+houston+utah&aq=f
Personally I like to see DWill leave instead of Sloan too. Without Sloan, Jazz probably would still make the playoffs. But without DWill, it's very likely the Jazz will fall out of the playoffs, giving Rockets the chance of sneaking into the 8th seed.
This is a surprise, but Sloan is 68 years old, so he probably wasn't going to coach much longer. I think he's a good coach, I hope it isn't health related. If they are forcing him out, I'm surprised they wouldn't wait until after the season is over.
Who would of thought WojYahooNBA: Showdown between Sloan and Williams became so heated Wednesday, at least two Jazz players feared they could come to blows. Never escalated.
Magic Johnson got away with making the Lakers choose between him or Paul Westhead because the Lakers won rings after Westhead left, Deron isn't in a position to win titles right now in order to make the public forget he ran a HOF coach out of town. Frankly, I think this is going to paint Deron as a whiner and a malcontent.

It kind of makes sense of Sloan and Deron really can't work together any longer. If the Jazz choose to move Deron, they take another step back competitively and Sloan is probably done with coaching by the time they're ready to compete again. If Sloan steps down, they have a chance of Deron jelling with the new coach and be competitive. The only problem being that Sloan teams (like JVG teams) seem to be strongly built around the system, so a lot of the complementary pieces aren't going to fit right anymore with a new coach. I expect they'll be switching a lot of guys besides Williams this offseason. Anyone we're interested in besides Deron?
Awesome! I really doubt the Jazz can lure anyone else anywhere near as good a coach to their team without overpaying. And with their money issues they are not overpaying. Personally, I look forward to the Jazz imploding in the not too far future.
I'm just enjoying going to Matt Jackson's facebook page and bugging him to come up with different things to research during Sloan's tenure. So far I had him come up with celebrities who were born the year he started. Now I'm seeing if he'll look up what current NBA coaches' jobs were when he started 23 years ago. (to be fair, he started the idea by coming up with how many NBA coaching changes occured during Sloan's career, what the #1 song was when he first started, etc. I'm seeing how asinine the trivia can be before he quits.) And if any of y'all have a trivia idea for him, throw it on his page.
Watching this press conference, it makes it really hard to still hate Jerry Sloan. Really hard. But I still do. Go Rockets.
Their flopping and cheating ways won't change. Sloan is an X and O guy,but he is a cheap thug who acts tough. I would have loved to see the Rockets beat them in a Game 7 Western Conference final. We will do it some day. It gave me some satisfaction,to see the Rockets beat Sloan and the Utah Jazz on their home court in the last game that he coached against us.
