I have never lived in Dallas but I have had to spend lots of time there and they have one foot in and one foot out when it comes to being Texan. You Don't have to wear boots to be a Texan but I think you need to embrace it and unless they are from the small east Texas towns around the d/fw area I just don't see it. Houston-World Class city, number 2 in fortune 500 companies, Energy Capital of the World, One of the largest Ports in the World, Worlds Largest Medical Center = A diverse city but trust me people around the state view Houston=Urban Cowboy Dallas=A Glass Praire ie. no reason a city should be there Austin=Laid back liberal college town San Antonio=A tourist town that is the second largest city in the state due to latino population which means the latino culture hub for Texas Dallas is home to credit card millionairs that have to fake it to make it and it's kind of funny because I was living in NYC this summer and those folks are the kings of that and it's pathetic but seeing a town like little d try to pull it off makes me a little embaressed for them
Every time I see this thread title, I am reminded of this old classic: http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/youare
This is a terrible retort. I mean, who cares if you make it if you don't take advantage of it. In this case, the sCrUBS aren't even competing. This is just like OU fan saying to Texas fan, "Well at least we won the BIG XII and went to the BCS. So what! Conference championships aren't a big deal (I know some will disagree but, seriously, does anyone care that OU won the BIG XII in, for example, 2006?) and (2) OU doesn't win their BCS games. The only thing that matters is championships. The Astros have 0 since 1962, the Cubs have 0 since 1962.
That is such a Dallas thing to say...However, I don't see it being that bad...So what if he thinks Houston is more blue collar...It is and it's a better city because of it...
I think Jerry needs his eyes examined. Fly (Jerry does fly with the team, doesn't he) into any Houston airport and you see some boots being worn. Fly into Dallas' airports and you see boots & hats everywhere. Houstonians haven't seen a checkered tablecloth since the days of Guy V. Lewis!
I wish I still had that pic of Gary Walker yelling at Jones after the 19 - 10 game. Does anybody have it?
Another great Cubbie meltdown. Awesome to see. What a difficult postseason--we could see a Dodgers/Phillies NLCS. At least the Mets or Br*ves weren't the wildcard; that would have been unbearable.
Buddy of mine texted me this last night, can anyone verify? The Astros have won more playoff games at MMP than the Cubs have won at Wrigley Field. If true, this is just awesome. If not true, **** the cubs anyway.
I just hit baseball-reference.com and did some quick math; not counting older leagues (pre-1888), they were 19-33 in WS games, 9-13 in divisional and LCS games, for a total of 28-46 altogether. I'm not sure how many of those W's came in Wrigley, however.
AND THERE LIES THE PROBLEM!!!!!....we are the 4th largest city in the country. However, some say we are just a biggass town. I hate the cowgirls with a passion times 10 , but I like Jerry Jones promotion of the them. He always keeps them in the news with big signings and winning games....they are relevant, always relevant. McNair needs to stop with that small time non-sense and get the big picture. We have to keep pace with NY, LA, Chicago. WE HAVE TO DO BIG THINGS!!
Eh, the WS games prior to 1973 (or was it 1972?) generally get lumped in as "postseason" games. So, perhaps "Postseason" is the better term.
