the dizzying height of willful stupidity the lunatic / willfully ignorant Luna doesn't understand that the Fed is an independent quasi-Gov agency. while Trump can fire anyone in his admin, he can't fire the Fed chair
Jamie Dimon, the current CEO of JP Morgan, has had a distinguished 30+-yr banking career. nicknamed "America's banker", he had been rumored to be on Trump's list to be the next Fed. Chair Jamie Dimon just sent Donald Trump a warning about meddling with the Fed On Tuesday, the JPMorgan CEO touched on the feud between Trump and the Fed chair. Dimon said it's important for the central bank to maintain its independence, referring to Trump's threats to fire Powell or announce a new Fed chair months in advance, a move that could undermine Powell's decision-making. "The president said he's not going to try to remove Jay Powell," Dimon said after JPMorgan reported its earnings for the quarter. "The independence of the Fed is absolutely critical, and not just for the current Fed chairman, who I respect, but for the next Fed chairman." "Playing around with the Fed can often have adverse consequences, absolutely opposite of what you might be hoping for," Dimon later added.
Powell, for his part, has said he believes Trump can't remove him from the Fed. When asked by reporters last year, Powell said he wouldn't resign as Fed Chair if Trump asked him to. Later, when asked if Trump had the power to remove or demote him, Powell said such a move was "not permitted under the law."
The whole unitary executive theory is a bunch of bullshit, an excuse for the nefarious partisans of the Supreme Court to allow the current president to do things he shouldn't by law. Following that theory the Federal Reserve should not be exempt from the powers they granted to him. That's how we know the billionaire class is in full control and corruption will continue to run rampant for the foreseeable future.
Only the paid shills will tell you Trump isn't meddling with the fed to distract us from the Epstein list.
the dotard had just spoken, in response to the rumor, effectively back-pedaling, TACO Trump weighs firing Fed chief Powell but calls move ‘very unlikely’
Jerome Powell should be fired. He's out of touch with the needs of the global economy... and has become partisan. He did a favor to the Democrats by cutting rates in the Fall, yet despite today's very soft inflation, he stubbornly keeps rates high now. It's impacting our budget deficit and keeping a lid on economic growth. Imagine how strong this economy can get if we had just a neutral Fed -- instead of a Fed that is two steps behind and one looking to punish Trump. Obama had the most supportive Fed of all time -- they had to because his policies were so hostile to business. Trump's policies + a supportive Fed = prosperity for all Americans -- but especially the working classes. GOOD DAY
Trump can fire Powell the same way Michael Scott declares bankruptcy. Just let him yell it into a TV camera and pretend like he accomplished something.
If you listen to Donald Trump - no one is worse at making political appointments than - Donald Trump. Christopher Wray, Jerome Powell, William Barr, Mike Pence, Sarah Matthews, John Bolton, Mad Dog Matthis, John Kelly, Mark Miley.....
He wishes he could fire him. Either way, he'll get to replace him soon. Probably trying to incept his base into thinking he fired him. No President should have oversight of the FED but the actions of this admin in particular (Trump 2.0 not 1.0) lead me to believe they would do whatever they could to purposely (further) tank USD. @DonnyMost is gooning off bitcoin while yall boil
A firing would immediately spark a legal challenge. The U.S. Supreme Court recently indicated they don't think Mr. Trump has the authority to do so. The justices in May ruled Mr. Trump can fire members of independent federal agencies including the National Labor Relations Board, but said its decision did not necessarily apply to the Federal Reserve because it is a "uniquely structured, quasi-private entity."' Make it make sense...
"Get me Roberts on the phone, and that weird Catholic broad I appointed. I need to tell them I need their assurances on this. While we are at it, lets replace that black female on the bench, she is just nasty. I want Patrick Bet-David to run the fed. He does a great job with real estate and his interview of Sammy the Bull was A-1 good." - Donald Trump
the caption sully of central bank chairs should be awarded the Nobel prize in economics for containing inflatiob---lowering it from 9% to below 4---while growing the GDP nearing a 2+% clip i am embarrassed for Traitor George, wish that he'd stop publicizing his willful ignorancce
QUESTION: Since Trump cannot remember that he appointed this guy . . .is he: 1. JUST A F*CKING LIAR or 2. He has severe mental decline/dementia? Rocket River
This is true, he listened to people he shouldn't have listened too when it came to making appointments his 1st POTUS. He's not making the same mistakes this time around. Powell will be gone soon enough. People that build houses, apartments etc.... will get their jobs back and the economy will take off. Posters on here say what Trump is doing is illegal. He's only doing what the SCOTUS is allowing him to do. Being a very good lawyer, do you agree with the SCOTUS decisions and if not why? Also what has Trump done that's illegal when looking at things in this light?
