What puzzles me still is why Zeke traded Nazr for Malik Rose and 3 1st rounders was it? MALIK ROSE!! You trade you're only true center for ANOTHER undersized PF who has a horrible contract with years left when Nazr makes only $5 mil per which I think is a bit underpaid in today's market. You do that for 3 1st rounders but how often do late first rounders pay off, only for the Spurs! DUMB!

How bout the knicks??? They also have shots happy players like Marbury, J Crawford, Tim thomas n now Q. Richardson. So Jmaes' jobs now is still set screens and grad rebounds......

IMO, Malik Rose & 3 1st rounders for Narz Mohammed was the best trade of last season. Mohammed is the final piece for Spurs ...

Zeke considers himself a good spotter of talent, sort of like picking stock. The example usually cited for this is forward Trevor Ariza, a second-round pick. Whether he's right or wrong, the Knicks aren't going to be under the cap anytime soon and can afford to take on salary. Thomas figures if he can pick up a few picks, he can help the team more over the long-run.

Got to feel good about this call, I am even happier I think the Knicks are out of the market for a PF. They possibly could still get in the mix for SAR (offer a big +), but doubtfull.

    This was good news. Now...

Let's see NO and Atl fall out of the picture please, and keep wild cards like the Wiz and Cavs away (Miami already has with Haslem returning, they have other needs).

i don't understand this move. james is like 7'1, 270. that's not even close to undersized pf size.

and he was only signed with the mle. that's not even close to ridiculously overpaid for a big man who just had a good round in the playoffs.

    isiah is slipping.

    Nice one. :D

Well, the Knicks could be out of the running for Swift now, but I honestly didn't see them as being true contendors for SS anyways. So far, Haslem and James have helped the cause since they didn't sign a big contract, SAR also helped out huge for turning down the 47M deal from the Bucks.

This takes one NY team out of the picture but the Nets are the bigger threat to get SAR, Swift or Marshall. Their preference is SAR but they want Swift as the next option. They have a lot of ammunition for SnTs as well, 1st round picks, one of their exceptions and players. Thorn, the GM of NJ seems a little annoyed at the SAR situation, he is talking about deadlines and that they can't wait forever for SAR. I think they pull the trigger by the end of next week for either SS or SAR.

This is good news. One more suitor for Swift is gone. Now only NJ & Atlanta seem like they want him but they have him as #2 on their lists. We have him #1.

Also Kwame was dealt to LA Fakers for Caron & Atkins.

BTW, xiki, as soon as the Laker acquisition of Kwame Brown is official and I get back to a safe computer, the tip jar is $25 richer.

Isiah, like xiki said, is very definitely still trying to swing S&Ts.

Mike Sweetney and Tim Thomas are #1 on the block. He seems to get it that Penny (expiring $15 mill) has no value until Feb since he's on his way out of the league. With the James signing, they now have 17 players under contract, though a couple of the rookies (David Lee, Jackie Butler) could be cut if need be.

That's funny. I know Isiah has made some questionable moves but some people have an automatic, "Isiah is an idiot" response drilled in their heads. The Q. Richardson trade wasn't a bad move (not great either) and now signing a servicable center to the MLE. What's wrong with that?

FYI, the Knicks might not be using their MLE to acquire Jerome James. Word is that the Knicks might be trying to work a S&T with the Sonics for either Jerome Williams or Malik Rose so the Knicks would still have their MLE available to them.

And why on earth would the Sonics do this? I'd rather either keep James (they need a C) or left him walk for nothing. I'd rather keep my own FA (Radmonich, Evans) than take on JW or Rose's contract. Maybe an unprotected NY 1st rounder would make me consider it, maybe.

Agreed. The only GM in the league dumb enough to take on those contracts is Zeke. JW and Rose have multiple years left, and a lot of money coming their way.

i should point out that i do think isiah is an idiot, just not because of this move. however, if they end up s&t'ing for james with malik with a starting salary set at malik's current salary, i will have to include this move.
