Yep I agree. Hard to be a great player with only one...but I think we've seen more guys be great just by being skilled players than being athletic. (Nash, Duncan, Stockton...etc...)
Bud played some pretty good defense as well as offense last night, out-rebounding Taylor 6-0 and out-scoring him 24-14. I think Rick already knows who is the better player. In addition, Chase has the height and hops to play SF and SG whereas Taylor is limited to SG. Taylor will have to work really hard on passing and dribbling this summer.

I don't remember Steve Francis making many drives to the basket going left either, and he was an all-star. Taylor looks to be more adept at running a pick and roll than Budinger to me.
The second coming of Mad Max....hopefully without the personal problems. He comes from Fla., solidly built two guard (slightly undersized height wise). Can take it to the rack, crazy athletic ability, likes to shoot the three, scorers mentality. If his Defense can develop, this guy will deserve minutes.
I went with starter. I think he'll end up a fringe player that can be an average starter or good bench player. He needs to improve his efficiency at the NBA level. He shows the skills to make a decent percentage of hard shots. He just needs to learn how to work off the ball to get some easy catch and shoot...and then make them. Taylor may end up as a closer for the Rockets as he can create his own shot.
He stunk tonight....his jumper needs a lot of work. Still, he has shown improvement, but he is not even close to a regular rotational player. DD
1st double double for Taylor tonight. Don't ask a rookie too much! p.s. I agree with you that he needs a lot of work. Hopefully, he can work hard this summer.
Taylor can at best become a 7th man. Francis was explosive and could get away with not using his left hand much,Taylor can't. Defenders will force him to use his off hand and this will cause him a lot of problems. Being a better pick and roll player than Budinger can't compensate for that.
He has the same size and strength as Lebron, but I think he'll develop more to better version of Durant and Kobe. People will be talking about Jermaine Taylor for years to come and how the Rockets were geniuses to find him. By the way, went to the Rockets store today and all the Taylor jerseys were sold out. Luckily, I had an old Mo Taylor jersey and used that to the game.
Not bad. I do as well. He seems a little bigger and stronger and a hair less quick. Cat became a really good defender a couple years into the league, and Taylor has seemed to show the "want to" on that end lately. Similarly, Taylor looks like he can become a really good spot up shooter -- if he can make the jump into the 40% range that Cat did, he could really be a player. He doesn't look very good shooting 3s off the dribble, but I think he's looked pretty good when he just catches and shoots. Could be a huge beneficiary of the return of Yao. By the numbers, the most impressive thing for JT has been the lack of turnovers. In the 3 games he's started, he only has 2 turnovers (and 6 steals).
I ;like the cat comparisons too. i believe a poor mans Gordon (Clippers) But Taylor plays better D but is a poorer shooter.
I believe his potential is TRADE BAIT! People will forgive his up & down play due to the fact he's a rookie. Thus they'll take him as part of a package for a larger deal. As far as CBud being better, CBud should aim a helluva lot higher than being better than Jermaine Taylor. They Both need to get it together on defense. The Rockets are just plain awful on that end of the floor.
