he doesn't fit in that system, he needs to be in a run and gun offense,

look at marion's shooting %, they are drastically down from phoenix.

Toronto basically is another d'antoni clone.

Eh. I just hope he stays healthy.
    Wade deserves it.

i think it will be a great deal for miami.. marion didn't really fit with what they were doing in miami.. if oneal comes around and play the way he did when he was in indiana the heat are going to do pretty well

If you guys keep up with Toronto box scores, JO actually doesn't do too bad. Yeah, he gets injured a lot, but I mean he always comes back and does decently.. plus it's rare to get a true post-player like JO these days. All the tall NBA players are becoming more and more outside shooters (Bargnani, Dirk, Granger, Radmonovic, etc etc). O'Neal had 4 out of 5 games where he had 20+ points. He almost had a triple double against the Lakers (1 rebound and 1 block shy). I think both teams benefit from this trade. Wade finally has a big guy to go to.

Jermaine won't be a primary option in Miami. It's clear that it's the Wade and Beasley show. JO is just going to be a role player along with Haslem until 2010.

As far as the Heat eyeing Boozer this summer, I don't think they'd have enough under the cap even after waiving Marion. They would need to trade Blount for someone's expiring (not especially likely).

Getting rid of Marcus Banks was a nice win in this deal.

Agree with everyhting you posted, except Moon is 4 months away from 29. But overall good move on Miami's part.

Interesting, I guess. This deal has been on the table for about a month now so nobody should be shocked or anything. Jermaine O'Neal is so unreliable it's not even funny. The closest he's come to playing a full season the five years was 69 games in 06-07 --- definitely nothing to boast about. *IF* he can somehow defy the odds, history and our best judgment by staying healthy this could make the Heat a lot better since he's still a good player and Marion in Miami was clearly a bad fit. We'll see.....I just won't hold my breath on that happening.

It looks like Miami wants to keep Wade and add another big time free agent in 2010. This was a way for them to cut 4-5 million off their cap (Banks) and take a chance on Jermaine O'Neal being somewhat healthy this year and next year. It's a decent move, but I would have thought they'd be able to fetch more for Marion. They probably won't be a very relevant team this year or next year.

As for Toronto, they need to get things turned around right now, and they free up a lot of space for this summer. I think its a solid move for them, but it all depends on what the can fetch in the offseason.

Lebron and Wade will not play together, you can't have a team where 2 guys take 50 shots a night, the rest of the starting lineup would have to be guys who needs less than 5 shots a game like steve nash, deke and haslem. I know Mike Beasley isn't cutting his shot amount down.

Marion isn't who he used to be but he is healthier than J. O'Neal if nothing else.
I think he could fit quite nicely with Calderon and Bosh.
I don't think it's a good trade for the Heat.

I do seem to recall Kobe and Shaq winning 3 titles doing that.

I think the Heat's thinking is 50 games a year Jermaine Oneal > 82 games Shawn Marion.

I can't see why the Heat would do this trade. O'neal is in a steep decline and has been for a couple of seasons now.

They needed a true center and marion was redundant with haslem and beasley around. Also, this frees up 21 million dollars in the 2010 offseason(when wade is a free agent).

    Good deal for both.

I actually thought Raptors gave up a little too much for this one. As well as a starter C they also gave up Moon AND a future first round pick? I didn't think Moon would even be involved in this one, but giving him up I think shows how much sweeteners Raptors were willing to chuck in to get the deal done as soon as possible.

What if Marion walks this summer? Bye bye Bosh

I agree. Giving up Moon and a future first round pick seems a bit too much..

I think because the Raptors also had Joey Graham (who I think has more upside and has been developing well this year), losing Moon was not an issue.
