I agree.Good deal for both, trading o'neal moves bosh back to center, gives Bargiani the 4 and marion gets to run with a playmaking pg. Colangelo drafted marion in phoenix. I think it was a good move for both squads.

Ya and the Raptors will trend upwards and the Heat will trend downwards. In my crappy opinion. :D

JO is a $21+ million expiring contract.

Good trade for both teams. If O'Neal can stay healthy they have their inside presence. Moon is a cheaper Marion athletic wise.

is JO healthy or what? he's not the player he was when he first signed the contract with indiana.

if he's healthy then miami should be happy.

i was kinda excited about a big trade triggering a flurry of other moves, but this one won't really kick off anything..

i think amare being moved will set off a chain reaction..

and im sure marion will see some time at the 4 with a small ball lineup there too. now if i was a raptor fan id be worried about resigning marion. if he leaves this summer, this trade sucked big time for the raps.

not just because they would've lost marion, but because they gave away oneals HUGE expiring 2010 contract while taking on banks bad deal and giving away moon in the process.

good deal for both teams, yes. this year. but miami has a better forecast.

I'm not a big numbers/salary guy but isn't this just a move to free up the money to give Wade a huge deal in 2010?

banks' 4.5 million contract isn't too bad... i think even if marion walks, they'll have the room to try to sign somebody in 2010.

keep in mind that bosh's contract is also gonna be off the books in 2010, so when bosh leaves, they'll be able to sign someone decent to build around i think.

or maybe they'll bring in nash to finish off his career in canada... ha!

anyways, i think they can just tank next year and save money, not sign anyone to bad contracts, and try to rebuild it in 2010.

it does both. it gives them a chance to see what they can do with a legit option at center and clears a log jam at the small forward spot and really let's beasley get a chance.

b-easy has been solid. not spectacular, but a fine option for that team.

and then whatever doesn't work this year, JO's contract is up 2010 so they can throw everything at wade plus try to get one more big FA.

It's a really good trade both ways.

I can see Marion re-signing with Toronto, given his relationship with Colangelo. He won't get the same money, but he'll have a good point guard to work with---not Nash, of course, but someone who can help him look like he deserved at least SOME of his previous contract.

Miami rolls the dice on Jermaine O'Neal, a $21,000,000 boondoggle, and will be in the hunt for Bosh or Amare, especially in dumping Banks.

Almost exactly a year ago, Miami traded Shaq for Banks and Marion.

Now they're trading Marion and Banks for another O'Neil + Moon.

I like the trade for the Raptors. I hate the old trade for the Suns and the current trade for the Heat.

Why are the first two pages of this thread conducted as if the primary motivation for this deal were it's on-court ramifications?

If JO stays healthy (HA HA), this is a grand slam trade for the Heat. This will make them much better and JO's contract is coming off the books. I've heard everyone talk about Moon but he never seems to play well when I watch the Raptors.

From Toronto's side, they pick up another soft player who will fit right in with the personality of their team. Marion's expiring contract gives them cap room for this summer.

IF IF IF JO stays healthy the rest of the year, I consider the Heat a dangerous team. If JO goes down, the Heat will be an easy 1st round appetizer for someone.

Why did the Heat trade Shaq away? I think Shaq's contract will be expired next season as well.

Which is when they'll need it to pair someone with Wade.

Wade and Riles were tired of his lazy, unmotivated act. If Shaq had played like he is now with the Suns, the Heat wouldn't have sent him away.

I definitely hope Triano opens the gates and starts implementing D'Antoni style offense.

Calderon leading the break with Bargnani(a Center) spotting up for threes, allowing either Matrix or Bosh to attack the basket without the other team's main shotblocking presence and I like their chances at scoring.

Even Bosh has three point range, the paint will open up and allow for penetration.

Too bad the Raptors don't have any penetrators, they should go after Maggette IMO

Perhaps since O'neal's contract expires next year, not his summer, the heat plan on using him as trade bait? It wouldn't be too outlandish to suggest that if they really want Boozer and Utah can't find a better trade, they might just do a sign and trade with Boozer + extras for O'neal.
