You don't know much about basketball no offense. You want a PG that shoots so poorly that they make Lin look like Steph Curry in our Rockets offense? You know that offense that relies on Harden having the ball, the PG playing off the ball, and chucking 3s. Things Rondo and Rubio are not proficient at. Terrible off the ball players, terrible shooters, etc.
Westbrook, Stephen Curry, Derrick Rose, Jrue Holiday, George Hill, Vasques(very underrated - maybe on the same boat as LIN) And there are more that are equal to LIN such as Kemba Walker, Brandon Knight (and are younger)...

hmm that's funny...let's take a look at some of Lin's top games 38 pts vs the spurs---TOny Parker.....in other game 21 pts, 8 assists, 4 boards vs the spurs 29 pts vs okc --Westbrook 28 pts vs golden state- steph curry 22 pts vs denver--ty lawson 20 pts in a win over the cavs...last year with the knicks the game after the heat debacle i think Lin dropped 20, 10 vs the cavs as well

Lin already has scorer's mentality, but in this system he is a pass-first guard because he is a team first kind of guy. He is struggling to balance this.

Weaknesses in order of importance: #1 the 3 ball. Yes, he's improved a lot and it's about average now, but our offense would scream if Lin can hit at a higher clip. Lin would be so hard to guard if he can hit at near 38-40%. That itself would take him and our team to the next level first and foremost. #2 finishing. He penetrates so much more than most people that if he can get the upper body strength and explosiveness to finish around the rim better, he would be devastating. He can do a simple reverse layup but when he contorts his body, he seems to miss more than his fair share of non-layup shots around the rim. #3 awareness when over helping. Last night, Mike James was on fire. So when Jeremy came off the bench, what was his first defensive possession like? He doubled Dirk and left the hot man. Yes, I get that that is our strategy but I hate when his man scores a 3 ball on him when he goes to help. (btw, these days, his defense has been nothing short of awesome. 2nd best defender on our team these days, imo. so underrated in that department. #4a passive quarters. Yes, the pg should look to distribute, but it's been shown over and over again that Lin plays better aggressive and looking for shots, thereby, opening up the floor. Pretty much every time he penetrates in the lane, I expect a good game from him. #4b Not shooting enough. Don't care that he's the point guard, he should be shooting 15 shots a game. see above. #4c Being passive because he's unsure of his role and perhaps what McHale wants from him. Here's a hint, stay aggressive no matter what the coaches say, cuz it's working for ya. They used to say the same thing about you in Golden State, that you should slow down. But look where that got you. You know your game more than anyone else. Be true to your strengths. #5 Guarding quick guards. Well, who doesn't have problems with this? Still, I expect him to work on his lateral quickness in the offseason if the load on his knee isn't too much. As fast as he is, his lateral quickness ain't too hot. #6 Not knowing that when Harden is out or not feeling it, he should be the main option to initiate every time. #7 Dribbling under pressure. Yes, he rarely gets it outright stripped from him and he's improved a lot in this department, but in the playoffs the full court pressure will be on, and I still worry that he'll worry, thus leading to a player with nerves (see: any game against the Heat). #8 Not asking the coaches to keep him in when he's hot. He should communicate to the coaches when he's feeling it. It's not a sign of disrespect and whether the coach accepts his request of not, I hate when he's sitting cold on that bench (seemingly) when he was hot, then coming back off his game. Lin and Harden are a great match, imo. The highest scoring and the most penetrating backcourt combo. Let's hope Lin grows up quickly to give Harden some help when the playoffs come. I know that opposing coaches are fearful and wary of the Harden-Lin penetrating backcourt and I hope that Lin can shore up his weaknesses in the next few years.
#3, 4a, 4b, 4c & 6 are not Lin's weaknesses, but the inherent flaws in McFail's coaching strategy. More often than not, he was told to learn and act that way. #8 being respectful of your coach's decision and preserving the team chemistry and power dynamics doesn't seem like a weakness to me; looks like more of a strength as it shows that Lin is a team first player.
