Jason Kidd, last year also took out Jeremy Lin's Knee. I think it was that one play that Kidd knocked him upside the head in the air, and Lin landed on his knee awkwardly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-H3MRf5J78 Obviously no proof, but after that game it seem like he didn't play like he did.
Playing with different gears to conserve energy and pick his opportunities to go all out or dial it back is something he didn't really do last season. It was what Kidd said he wanted to teach Lin when he thought they would be on the same team. It seemed he only had one gear last year, the Linsanity gear. Maybe he'll figure it out with experience. It's a pity there's no vet pg to teach him or a pg coach on the Rockets (McHale is as Big Man coach).
It's funny that in the summer people on this forum were still saying that Lin was a shoot-first PG. And Hollinger is still saying now that Lin "looks more to score than to pass." Check here: http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/player/hollinger/_/id/4299/jeremy-lin Amazing how people may have such diverse perspectives of the same person.
I don't think they were ever able to pin down any exact trauma as being the cause. That's why they diagnosed it as a chronic meniscus tear. If they could pinpoint it to a specific trauma, then it would have been diagnosed as an acute meniscus tear.
Looks that way from his Crimson bio at http://www.gocrimson.com/sports/mbkb/2009-10/bios/Jeremy_Lin_Bio Of course the level of competition not may not be as strong as other larger conferences.
Chris "Birdman" Anderson would have been perfect for Lin to fastbreak or pick and roll with on the cheap. Dude can still ball and is lightning quick 6'10" with very long arms. I know his trailer park background got him in trouble with weed and one of his family came over looking at child p*rn on his broadband but... He's be an assist receiver on the very cheap. Should have waived somebody to snatch him up before Miami did.
Only difference is one guy is a professional while the others are just fans I don't really expect Lin to shoot a lot, he is a PG, they assist not shoot
Jeremy Lin's upside is that he'd be about fifty times better when he's got a proper coach rather than McHale running the asylum.
Man, i am very surprised with Lin's improvement on Defense. He seems to be able to play both ends now with consistency now
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ppNFQ-lF95g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Jeremy Lin has good defensive fundamentals, but sometimes over helps way too much.
JL is a really solid defender in so many aspects. it is now the most underrated aspect of his game. he's also a thief. and the improvement has happened THIS half season. he shut down Lawson tonight. his reward? sitting on the bench with 7 min left in the 3rd til 10 min left in the fourth. 31 minutes total. McHale is just a bad coach. that's just being objective.
Lin has improved his 3 point percentage every single month so far this season. Nov: .263 Dec: .292 Jan: .327 So things are looking up on that end.
He needs to take jumpers off the dribble. When they pass it to him for a 3 bounce it once then shoot. I know that McHale wants ball movement & he doesn't like shots off the bounce because they stop the ball & it gets sticky but Lin is terrible on catch & shoots. Needs to stick to off the dribble 3's. Also notice that he has been taking a lot more long 2's which is good because he hits those at a high clip he doesn't have consistent 3 point range yet.
The high arc actually looks good on his mid range jumpers but on 3pters it looks like a hanging curve ball.
he is playing good... we have to give him a bigger role in this team.. the second option of this team...
