NBA's definition in clutch I believe is last 5 min of the game, +- 5 pts. We went through this before. It went nowhere. It's stats after all, you can massage it and believe what you like to believe.
I thought it is the shot to win the game in the last min of the game. The player either hits the shot or misses the shot.
Yea but arguing all the time like in that other thread isn't going anywhere either. No one is going to change their mind anyway. I don't post anything on that thread anymore, too many negative posts. I like to read something more positive.
And you really think this thread will give more positive posts than the other one. I think the only part different between the two is the title.
Winning shot is too rare to be analyzed. Sample size is too small. And not all 5 starters get the chance to do it anyway. Typically maybe 1 or 2 players get to do it. Lin did once in NY against Toronto. He almost had the chance to tie that game with a 3 (forgot vs. whom) if his foot wasn't on the line. Chandler tied (The Lakers?) game with a long 3, but he also lost 2 great opportunities to beat the Grizzilies. Harden had quite a few of winning or tying shots, (can think of about 5). He did lose couple of games (more in last season) when he dribbled the clock down and had no where to go and no time left to do anything. This season he's been very clutch, and cut down his ISOs. He's the real deal. Then again, he was given more chances for clutch shots, which he rightfully deserves.
And don't forget, there is also clutch defense. Keeping the opponent from making the clutch point to win the game.
Jeremy Lin is one of the best young combo guards in the game. He has improved his skill set in a substantial way since his time in NY. He has a credible 3 pt shot. He has a nice mid range shot. He is a much improved defensive player. He has a solid left hand to go with his existing skill sets. He is one of the best scorers at the guard position in the game inside the 3 pt line. I also think he creates a difficult matchup problem for other teams because of his size (one of the biggest PGs in the game) and his first step/overall speed (one of the quickest in the game). I think the Rockets coaching staff views him as a scorer only, when his overall game is much more about controlling tempo, setting pace, getting the ball to the open man and making his teammates better. He will need to leave Houston to have the opportunity to realize his full potential, but I have no doubt that if he were with a more embracing coaching staff he would put up Ty Lawson numbers or better because of his size.
I lost it at "solid left hand". Please explain his performance from early Feb to early March considering what you posted above.
Sorry for the beeping noise or crickets, idk. It's not my video. <iframe width="640" height="390" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/O-IFBKKmry8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Apparently, he had back issues. Apparently, happening since All Star break. Apparently, they are still ongoing. http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...-jeremy-lin-miss-practice-due-to-back-issues/ Regardless of the reasons, it is what it is. He played like ***** those weeks. Have said this before, if a player is injured, you might as well rest him. In this case, Lin was irrelevant those games he played. And this applies to all players.
back issue, Compound with the factor rocket do not have other viable backup PG option, Lin has to play through it.
