Pre Linsanity http://www.goldenstateofmind.com/2009/12/15/1201646/bow-to-the-jeremy-lin-movement-b-o Breaks it down like a financial report. I may have posted this already. But thats okay Super excited to see how quickly Lin Parsons and the rest of the team build their chemistry and get to having some FUN! Wish the season was tomorrow so I could start screaming at the TV and cheering for the team. Based on what I read about how White I think he has the attitude and mindset that would click quickly with Lin but of course the teams roster is far from set and I'm still trying to get acquainted with whose coming and going.
A lot of people like to use that 1 game as proof that he "sucks" - while also claiming that 25 games is far too small of sample size. If all it took was Chalmers to prove that he sucks - then why don't other team just do what Miami did?
All of his games with the knicks. I don't make opinions on youtube highlights or sportscenter. I've had nba lp since like 95 on the old sony dish. I record a lot of games via cpu or dvr.
No need to argue guys. Rondo and Nash had a higher turnover percentage than Lin. One reason why Lin had so much turnovers like the other two was that he was in control of the ball so much. * It is something that Lin did work on pre-injury and identified as a point to address back in February 2012. * On reason why there is this Chalmers debate is - people think that every team can do what Chalmers did to Lin - and some would like to believe that 82 games a year everyteam will be able to do that. * This is false due to the fact: Teams TRIED to do what the Heat did but they couldn't pull it. Lin isn't going to be the same as he was last season. 1. Another year to train with his all his different trainers, shooting coaches, and other coaches. 2. He packed on 15lbs of muscle last season, he has even more time to add more muscle this season and increase his squat, speed, agility, 3pt shot, jumper, dribble etc. 3. One issue is the assumption that Lin has reached his peak and plateaued when he was basically a rookie in terms of games played and going from little to no minutes to starter minutes in a condensed schedule. 4. As a student of the game that rushes back at half-time to review tape - the guys a nonstop student of the game. 5. There is no reason to argue with Lee as he has some valid points, I don't think anyone has asked him to share all the upsides he sees in Lin yet and I'm sure Lee has written a lot down and has a lot of ideas and thoughts on what Lin can bring to the table moving forward. The average male body fully reaches physical potential around their mid-30's Lin has years to build up his body and become even faster, jump higher, etc. Massive upside! His youth and where he is at ~ only time will tell. Trying to foresee the future is fail - all you can work with is what he has been able to accomplish in HS, College, the NBA so far - and look at his work ethic, drive, character, and analyze the person. Then if your rooting for the Rockets you should be pretty excited to have someone with so much potential to grow.
you have to admit, though. Lin was exposed that game. They completely made him look like he didn't belong anywhere in an NBA jersey. I'm not too worried about that one game, though. Jeremy isn't the type to make the same mistake twice.
I'm guessing u didn't see him vs phily 2 times or vs boston either? Without looking, he was pretty terrible if I remember.
Oh I've seen them all. I just look forward to watching basketball because how fun it is to watch him and look forward to seeing what he can do next season and how he grows with the new team after the roster solidifies. I'm liking a lot of the guys on the roster already.
he played well in at least the last matchup against philly. he came up big down the stretch, pulled em away and sealed the W.
looks like Omar Asik is on the verge of being a Rocket. i don't know how i feel about this signing. i have questions as to whether he's really a legitimate starting center, or just a glorified backup.
Why did he shoot 25% vs philly and had as many ass (11) as to (8)?What about 6-19 vs boston? Better yet, here you go. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/linje01/splits/2012/ Go look at the log and then find the games. Again, I think he will be solid, but there are a lot of peaks and valleys in that log. Can he improve? Sure. How much? We don't know, but we will know by the end of next yr.
Jeremy had more good games than bad. The good thing about the situation in Houston is that Jeremy can run the offense Linsanity-style. No Melo=Great situation for young and growing talent. I think Landry Fields is going to have one heck of a year next season. It isn't a coincidence that Landry's fall coincided with Melo's arrival. I sort of feel bad for Iman Shumpert. This guy has loads of potential, but he's going to be pigeonholed, offensively, because of Melo and Amar'e.
I'm not sure what you mean, the one philly game I remember Lin struggled and in the 4th began forcing the 76ers to send him to the line, I think he made non-stop free throws that forced the 76ers to give up. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/RTFhxvykjq4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/pnLWKoy5yDM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Another person may think - TERRIBLE. I see HUGE clutch gene. Burying the dagger and finding a way to win no matter what. Sure stats and #'s are all good but for me - its about winning. I've always felt that way throughout my entire life in sports, athletics, and any competition. It doesn't have to be pretty - I'll always take a win. I enjoy overcoming adversity and learning from challenges and overcoming them I like this win. I also enjoyed watching the steady free throws slowly sap away the will-to-fight from the 76ers. ---- On Boston, I believe I recall being upset that certain members of the Knicks did not put up the same effort defensively that Lin did. I also recall that Lin did help fight through it in the 4th and the Knicks did have a chance to win. Also this is the period when Melo return and the NY media and superstar bandwagoners were demanding Melo be the man to handle the scoring and 4th quarter heroics. I disagreed - as I feel and continue to believe in Lin's clutch gene - based on his HS and College, and NBA performances thus far - as noted in the earlier research post on page 10. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Zp7t3ix9O6g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> At that point the Knicks were trying to figure out how to mesh Melo's ISO ball with Lin & D'antoni. It changed the spirit and chemistry of the team. I would rather have Lin been the main focus and been the closer of that game versus Boston. I don't think it was terrible - I thought it was competitive and a lot of fun. Also Melo wasn't playing defense much til Woodson took over and held him accountable - But I really am not here to rehash the last 4 months of forum discussions that people have had on the internet concerning this. I do notice your saying a lot of the same things other have had in the past and I just really don't have much to say about things that have been already discussed thousands of times already. I like the fire in Lin's eyes - when he is playing I think anything can happen because he won't give up. Thats the kind of athlete I was and competitor I am and thats the type I most admire and can relate to. I believe that you will stick to your analysis and win or lose you will retain your opinion and its not important for me to try to convince you otherwise - other then to briefly share my opinion ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I share the view that its about the team and whose on the floor and if everyone commits 100% good things happen. The Knicks didn't necessarily get that same chemistry they had at the outset of Linsanity like they did toward the latter part of the season. But after reading thousands and thousands of posts debating from all sides, for 4 months I conclude, I enjoy watching the NBA again because of Lin. He has that magic like MJ did for me.
The Boston game was also bad, but in the 2nd Philly game, he completely took over in the fourth and nearly single-handedly won the game. But no question, the Miami and Boston games were disappointing. We'll just have to hope that he'll get better against the super athletic teams next year. What I don't like, however, is the fact that when other PGs have bad games throughout the season or even in the playoffs (and every player does) just as bad as the Lin-Miami game, everyone just says "he" had a bad game, whereas when Lin had the bad game, everyone said "I knew all those good games were just a fluke." The same way every college program considered him to be a fluke and didn't offer him a scholarship even though he was the California HS player of the year and led his team over a powerhouse favorite in Cali. It was a fluke that he dropped 30 on UConn, and Boston College, a fluke that he kicked butt in summer league, in the D league. And when he got his first real games in the NBA, he put up amazing numbers but, of course, they were just a fluke and the two or three bad games are perfectly indicative of who he is... Why go against what our eyes and stats tell us? Why do we expect him to be a fluke, again and again? Having said that, without a viable big man around him, with such a young team (meaning inability to play great tough defense), I don't know what we'll see next year. But I do know that it is NOT likely that he will regress next year. Why should we expect to see regression in a player without any viable reason when he's proven it over and over again at every level.
Lin is an above average defender. He has an uncanny knack for the ball. He's great at anticipating passing lanes and stripping the ball. He's not a shutdown 1 on 1 defender, but he's definitely above average. Yeah, Lin turns the ball over, but that's because all the plays go through him. You know which <a href="http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&match=single&type=per_game&per_minute_base=36&lg_id=NBA&is_playoffs=N&year_min=2012&year_max=2012&franch_id=&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&height_min=0&height_max=99&birth_country_is=Y&birth_country=&is_active=&is_hof=&is_as=&as_comp=gt&as_val=0&pos_is_g=Y&qual=&c1stat=gs&c1comp=gt&c1val=15&c2stat=&c2comp=gt&c2val=&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&c5stat=&c5comp=gt&c6mult=1.0&c6stat=&order_by=tov_pct">PGs had a higher turnover % than Lin last year</a>? Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Rajon Rondo, Ricky Rubio. Yes, Lin's greatest weakness is his dribbling. He's not a pure point guard, he's more of a combo guard. But I have no doubt that he'll improve his dribbling skills.
