Parson's not doing good lately and he's one of the recipients along with DMO of Lin's passes. That said, I just hope Lin can have more assists than what he's having now. 15 and 8 is what he must at least average to satisfy most of Rockets fans' rising expectations.
Lin and Harden share the ball control, keep comparing his assist number to all star is meaningless. It should be at least normalized through possession
You have to think about the fact that 40% of the time Lin just hand the ball over to Harden. Lin could average 10 assists if he's the primary ball handler and play a few more minutes.
The stats dont tell you everything. Lin is a very good passer. How many times Asik got the ball in the pain? Either he scores or he goes to the FT-line. When Asik scores Lin gets his assist. Otherwise Lin does not get his assist but Asik has the possibility to score and the other team got a foul. As long as I see that Lin can pass I dont care about the number on the paper!
Lots of role players and scrubs have done this. For instance, my all time favorite scrub, former Clipper Tyrone Nesby: 1-4-2000 22 points 1-5-2000 23 points 1-8-2000 23 points Interestingly, he was 24 years old at the time. If you've never heard of him, that's because he's been out of the league since 2002. Lin is playing very well lately, and hopefully will continue to improve. Let's just not pretend that three 20 point games in a row mean ANYTHING.
Its implied when people say he is going to put up 20/9 as if its something run of the mill or easy to do. That would make him a top 3 PG most likely.
Lin isn't the primary ball handler just like Nash with Kobe and look at how few assists Nash has. Its because Kobe is the primary ball handler and Nash plays off the ball. Same thing with Harden and Lin.
You're right. Our starting pg playing well means nothing. Lin has proven nothing in his career just like Tyrone Nesby. And I hope he improves cuz those 20 pt games and all the floor general things he's been doing recently isn't cutting it for 5 mil this year.
jeremy lin has the opportunity to develop into "tony parker"...i stand by that....he has a great mid range game...that he rarely uses..he finishes at the rim like tony...i think the playoffs and the offseason will be beneficial for both he and chandler bang
He's definitely one of the front-runners for Taiwanese-American player of the year. Not an annual award, granted, but prestigious nonetheless.
He's sure to get many votes as the top Harvard athlete of the year. It is a very prestigious award from a prestigious institution.
You left out Taiwanese-American Greatest of All Time! LOL Don't be shocked folks. I'm sure Mutombo is the Congolese-American Greatest of All Time winner as well!
It's true that the scoring streak doesn't mean so much, but maybe you could supply the stats to compare Nesby's assists, steals and general all around defense. Was he among the top defenders of his team while he was on his scoring streak? Did he ever hit 38 points in his career, and elevated the games of all his teammates? Were those 20+ points Nesby scored critical points or garbage time points, and how many minutes did he play to get those points? I seriously have no clue since I've never heard of him.
But thats not what he's saying. He's stricly talking about points. By that same context, you could say Chandler Parsons will be a star because he scores 20+ for 6 games not in garbage time. You are only a star when you do it for an entire season, not 3 games, or 6 games or even 20.
Parsons also has all star potential. He is a candidate for MIP this season and is only going to inprove.
What differentiates Lin is that he's done it before. A single streak could be a fluke. Two streaks? Hmm... It's ******* hard to score in the NBA.
