Whoa whoa. Every poster who makes any kind of parallel between fans of Jeremy and asians gets slammed by newer posters. Now we're supposed to say thanks? Which is it?

We're supposed to get even newer posters to bash them.

    And so on.

That's an interesting point. Didn't think about that.

Did Forbes just do a piece assuming sales are up due to Lin, without providing any support to prove it?

He probably doesn't like it but I'm sure he's working very hard to improve and transcend it.

Lin makes the Rockets money. No question. It's a bit annoying that the Rockets are locked into a paying a moderately below average point guard a lot of money and locking down the starting point guard spot.

It would be nice if the Rockets used all of that Lin money to not be afraid of the luxury tax and get a Laker-like payroll (if the Lin $$$ is as big as people think).

The Rockets have been "relevant" since before you were born. Rockets were relevant in China throughout Yao's career, too. One star for your thread.

Chinese idolize on Jeremy much like their French counterparts on Parker, Argentinians on Ginnobi, Turkish on Asik, Canadian on Nash etc. etc. Of course, Jeremy's Linsanity story adds more fever to that craze about him. Even many New Yorkers last year were crazy about him. The huge Chinese population in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and all over the world makes Jeremy that much an attraction in merchandising. Hope he will stay healthy and play solid consistant ball next year.

It's surprising that China would see a boost in revenue since Lin's heritage is from the Independent Nation of Taiwan.

Lin means more to Chinese Americans than Chinese in China/Taiwan. He does not even speak Chinese.

It is not the same thing, Ginobili, Scola, Delfino, Prigioni and other have won medals for argentina, argentina is the only of two existing countries to have a gold medal. They don´t idlize Ginobili alone, and for sure not because he plays in the NBA. His impact here starts with the 2002 world championship and explodes during the 2004 olympic games.
Asik was loved by the turkish people ever since Turkey came second in the 2010 world championship at Turkey.
also, Nash and Parker played elite level for several years while Lin is a one time wonder until he proves different. He has not played at elite level for more than a bunch of games.
So why yopur post is right about some asian population idolizing Lin, it hardly is because of his merits as is the case of the other players.
I don´t see Brazilians crazy for Barbosa, to make a more similar paralel to Lin, who had a couple of good seasons with Phoenix before slowly going off the sunset of the NBA.

Ding ding ding exactly. The article did not provide any info or data to suggest NBA's rising popularity has anything to due with Jeremy. NBA's popularity have been growing rapidly in China even before Lin rose to prominence, so why is this continuing trend suddenly being attributed to Lin?

Not only that, Lin is not Chinese. He's a Chinese American that doesn't even speak Mandarin all that well. The Chinese people knows that. Lin's popularity in China is quite overrated. Just take a look Weibo (China's version of Twitter), homegrown Chinese athletes tend to have much more fans & followers than Lin, even the ones that are not that great at their sport (for example, Yi Jianlian have 8 million more fans & followers than Lin)
