It seems that the Knicks finally don't need Lin to score that much to win games. Maybe the Linsanity hype could finally be calmed down a bit.
Just imagine if a guy started playing tomorrow and his name was John Stockton. You think Rox fans won't boo him? Now multiply that hatred by a 100 and thats about how most ppl in NY feel about Isaiah Thomas
I console myself by insisting that Lin wouldn't put up even half the numbers hes putting up if he was wearing the Rox uni...but then I see frigging Lob City going on, and ugh...
I think people need to stop being 'depressed about him not playing for the rockets...linsanity would not have happened here, he would never gotten 30+ minutes behind Kyle lowry, hell if he was in most of the teams he was in like Golden state he just wouldn't have gotten a shot and probalby would still be in obscurity regarddless of how he does in practice. He was in the right place, teh right situation, and the right time and he just made the best out of it and I am glad it happened. For him at least, not so much for houston/rockets,but he is a pleasure to watch and a great role model for a star in how humble he is so it is hard not to root for linsanity
You didn't watch basketball in 2003? You didn't watch football the year Warner first won a SB with the Rams? It's a nice story. It's not "historic". It's not something we have never seen before once you remove the city and race from the plot. Yeah, it's historic for the race. That I agree with. Nothing is wrong with me for recognizing that.
also dont forget that Lowry was having an even bigger stretch last year when he was playing out of his mind and it barely got a blip on the radar...Playing in NY can do wonders for any good story not saying what Lin is doing isnt significant but I dont think it'd be on the cover of any internet sport site and multiple articles and all if it was in Milwaukee as opposed to NY.
even if you remove the race factor and the city factor, it actually is pretty historic considering the numbers that he is putting up.
So prior to this you looked at guys for stretches of 10 games or less and considered how they did to be historic in some way? If Hakeem got more steals than any other center in his first 10 games was that a historic feat that you would ever mention?
Eh, I think I'd heard the 5 or 6 game stretch is fairly record breaking, in terms of scoring. No one has ever been that effective in their first five starts. In addition, I can't really think of anyone who came in during the middle of the season out of nowhere to put up those type of numbers. Flip is the closest I can think of. There is done history there. Whether he keeps it up, who knows.
