Blame the media for overrating Lin (and playing in the major NY market). Putting him on all over ESPN, comparing him to all time greats, of course non NY/Lin fans will chant overrated when he isn't playing like a superstar. It's always been like that for any player that gets the attention. They don't chant "overrated" for some scrub on the bench...you have to be somebody
i think the knicks forgot that boxing out is something you have to do in order to get rebounds. they made Taj Gibson look like Dennis Rodman out there
I've seen Ramon Sessions play at the same level as Lin for a whole season so I don't blame them. Lin was built up by the media after a few games against mostly awful teams and will now fall while the media goes after Payton Manning. Not Lin's fault but blame the crazy fans calling him the next All-Star PG.
Actually the first game everyone (including myself) thought it was a fluke and we were chanting MVP and calling him a superstar as a joke. Similar to how Scalabrine is getting called the white mamba in Chicago. Then he started doing it consistently. Also @ Reeko most players will cave under national TV pressure if they truly were flukes. Lin came off strong against both LA and Dallas.
Why isn't there a thread about sessions that is this many pages long??? There's no story there compared to Lin and by the end of the year it will be the sports story of the year, no???
Ramon Sessions has been shooting 40% the whole season against the opposing teams bench. I'm not saying it's bad or anything but I don't get the comparison.
yea, lin looks like an OK player, but way overhyped - but that's not unexpected, given the new york market, espn, and the fact that people love feel-good/underdog stories... i sense that the linsanity winning streak perhaps had more to do with the knicks second unit (a la minus stat and melo) hustling on d, boxing out, and rebounding...all that plus lin running dantoni's system. the last handful games i've seen looks like the knicks are getting outhustled and destroyed on the boards - seems like during the win streak they played with a lot more heart and passion
Lin is overhyped, but with good reasons. I don't know why you compare Sessions to him. Sessions is more like Chandler Parsons. He's a second round pick, got into the rotation on a mediocre team in his rookie year. Lin went to an Ivy league school because no college recruited him despite being the best high school player in the largest state; gone undrafted; got signed because of a summer league game; sat on the bench for a whole season; got cut by 3 teams; almost got cut again in NY before the coach became desperate. And then boom... And did I mention he's the first Asian American ever played in the NBA? And first Harvard grad in more than half a century? It's a good story. People love good stories. The media play to what people love. Sessions, Parsons, Felton, they are about the same talent as Lin, but they aren't good stories.
And you are also crazy enough to read this thread constantly and grasp every chance to prove everyone else in the thread is crazy. I wouldn't even read the thread of a player whom I think is a fluke. Linsanity has own you from the beginning and it is still owning you now. Face it.
Lin is fine, the chemistry of the Knicks is off, he is defering far too much to Melo and Amare. Get rid of one of them and the team would be a better overall team. Everyone would know their roles and put the ball in Lin's hands, right now, Melo has sent a disturbance in their force, or balance, both he and Amare. You take them out and the Knicks are a better TEAM, one of them needs to go.
I don't know why you guys are bickering over this. Lin is a good role player. Some of us jumped on his bandwagon because it's just fun. The meme's are fun. If you got tricked by the media into thinking he's a potential all-star then, that's on you. You just need to learn how to Lin it.
I think Lin + Stat is a more effective combination. Melo and Lin just don't work well together. Melo settles for a lot of outside shots which is something Lin can already handle by himself.
Right, so a player averaged 16pts and 8 asts 2.5stls for the last 10 games is considered good role player these days...some guess is Kyle is one of them huh?! :grin:
That would be a combination of fans overvaluing our players and the lack of star players on this team, but typically 16/8 would be a good role player =/
Right now he's just a good role player and a solid starter but he has the potential to be great considering he's essentially a rookie.
