Being Asian, playing in New York, and saving their season when they were desperate for a point guard was the the perfect storm for Jeremy. If you can't see that, then I don't know what else to tell you.
Lin should stop being Asian and convert to Black. No more debates on race and he'll just be another superstar.
Fact: Yao played 5 games in that season and was still voted as a starter. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/mingya01.html
wait, why is lin being compared to yao? they have nothing similar except a nice atittude and both being asian. yao was drafted no.1 highly anticipated by the nba and by ppl in china, lin was not, chinese ppl weren't even aware of him until he played out of his mind, purely by his stats and team record since he started, he's well deserving on that merit alone
yeah, we figured out later last night that the Bolt data is likely correct. But they were doing his 100m times vs 25m. At 25m, no way Bolt's avg is above his peak, but at longer distances, like a ballistic projectile, peak quite often falls below avg.
I'm not a LOF but even if I was that's better than being a Lin Only Hater that has no life. Secondly, I was responding to someone saying Lin will only get in because he's asian. So who pulled out the race card?
What is most pathetic is morons like you who have to put a label on whoever who disagrees with you. You are too dumb to make a valid argument. You are weak.
I don't think RowdyRicky said or meant to say "only." His point was that Lin will "of course" get in because of his performance combined with the boost of the Chinese vote...and the Yao example is appropriate...not racist. Lin will probably be the top vote-getter as well, just like Yao was each year. And, with his play now, he certainly deserves to be in the All-star game ... but does he deserve to beat out Rose as starter for the East? Get ready for a huge backlash of Linsanity support in the media, next year, if Lin removes Rose as starter and doesn't deserve it. The vote is stats. Stats don't lie. The stats will show that Lin's voting base is very similar to Yao's; hence, the connection. We are not actually going to argue this are we?
Was Wang ever on the ballot? If you write-in his name in Chinese characters, the ballot gets disqualified like a hanging chad.
Is there a way to revoke China from voting??? I thought it's only USA that gets to vote in the All Star Game, no???
Well if the NBA likes to call the championship team "world champions", it's only fair that NBA is made as internationally accessible as possible. To be fair, regardless of whether China votes or not. The entire fan voting system is stupid to begin with. Coaches and GMs should vote for the starters and reserves.
Guess who makes NBA work? Without fans, NBA is nothing, just look at WNBA. You want to be as fan friendly as possible in this day and age. Where do you think NBA is growing fastest right now?
it doesn't matter though, espn did some analysis that only a very small percentage of votes come from china anyways, not nearly enough to alter the results
Of course, I agree with that. But the system at the moment is broken. I would advocate something like, have the commissioner or GM/Coaches pick out a pool of all-star candidates. The fans can then vote from that pool for the starters. That way, you won't get players who only played 10 games getting voted in.
I honestly don't believe that. Tracy Mcgrady and Yao Ming both got voted into the all star game one year when they both clearly didn't deserve it. If it wasn't the chinese fan base that voted them in, then who did?
More like Asians in the United States than Chinese in China. You just have to go to NY Knicks road game to see this working right now.
Maybe, but so what if a couple of undeserving players got voted in? Like coaches did not do that for old legends like Kareem before they retired?
