What are you talking about? You realize Lin has hit a gamewinner on Toronto's home floor, right? This was one game against the best team in the NBA, on their home floor. Even the MVP last year was shut down by Miami's defense, in the playoffs. I didn't think Chalmers / Cole would give Lin that many problems though. Maybe they really really didn't want to be the next Lin victim.
You are correct. The upcoming schedule will be very telling. Dude played out of his mind during the streak but most of those teams were garbage. Most of the upcoming teams aren't garbage. He played well against Dallas....not so well tonight. To his credit they were on a B2B.
The two superstars on the Knicks went 11-27, so apparently Miami defended those two well, also. This was a wake-up call for Lin and the Knicks though. They have a lot of work to do if they want to really contend in the East.
Toronto? He was playing pretty badly until the end. Oh and the large support of the Asian Heritage night in Toronto. Wizard suck. Minny? 8/24. Mentally he's not prepared. It will take a season for him to be prepare and he still haven't gotten to the rookie wall yet.
This is why people shouldn't by into the media hype, but those who are mentally soft fall for it every time. The media hypes you up and then stalks you until they have a "reason" to rip you apart. I'd hate for that to happen to Lin who seems like a really great story.
Actually, Toronto IS one of Lin's home courts This game was a good experience for Lin. He'll have more of these games in the future but I think he'll pick up things and improve.
All I'm going to say is Lowry never looked this bad against Miami last year. I hope that slows down the discussion that Lin is better than Lowry.
Meh, the point was to say that Lin doesn't purely suck on the road, and beasts at home. But yeah, this was a good experience, not just for Lin, but for everyone on the Knicks. Miami is looking super dominant right now.
The Miami Heat were Mortal Kombatants. Some of their moves were like video game special moves. No way you can compete with that shiet... In a playoff series, even if the Knicks improve a thousand fold the hyper athleticism of the Heat alone make it an impossible situation. If only the Knicks had a 7footer that could play above the athleticism and shoot from anywhere they could beat them in a playoff series.. Oh wait that guy plays for the Mavs. See what I mean guys.. no team in this league has a chance against the Heat other than the Mavs in a PlayOff series if the whole team is going to play hyper like this.
I'm pretty sure Kevin Martin and Luis Scola were #1 and #2 on the scouting report of who to stop. Lowry is probably #1 on reports this year though.
I hope Lin uses All-star weekend to rest, re-group and has some good practices with the team. Still long way to go before he becomes a true starting PG. He will be there. Go, Lin!
So me noting that he played well against one good team and bad against another good team...while noting he was on a B2B...is using one game to discredit him?
I quoted you but I was adding on to what you were saying.. Too many people are calling Lin a fluke after one bad game when he's already had a crazy run to prove himself. People are forgetting that playing 40+ minutes a game and getting interviewed non stop has been taking a toll on him. Not to mention all this pressure for him to be a superstar. Which frankly is just not going to happen....
Linsanity is always at one end of the spectrum, he has a good game, people say he's a top tier PG, he has a bad one, and he's garbage.
I don't think there's pressure on him to become a superstar, per se; rather, people just want to see him succeed because there hasn't been a successful asian PG in the game, ever. I think he has star potential though, for sure. Superstardom, maybe some day. But if not for Lin, the Knicks might be something like 10-25 right now, instead of 17-18.
