Well, then here is another real fact. The entire team sucked in game one except for Beverly.

He played like 1.6 games, and was playing hurt for about .4 of those games.

Not exactly a statistically significant sample size...

I'm sorry unlike enlightened LOHs I've never heard of Kato. Cato was talented physically but lacked discipline and motivation; Lin is not particular blessed physically (not bad) but definitely not lacking in discipline and motivation. What games did you watch? Blind bittch?

If he didn't play hatin' ppl would call him a pansy. (they ARE actually calling him that irrationally already)

It's more likely because you have too much of your focus centered on him.

lol. I saw Cato play too. But since I'm Asian and actually think Lin is pretty good that means I don't know ***** either.

My opinion: Lin had a solid regular season, but a disappointing playoffs. His lack of contribution was one of the reasons why we lost the series, but was not the sole/main/major reason. Threads like this are not helpful in discussing the positives or the negatives of a player on a team that we support.

As a longtime fan of the Rockets and of this site (though almost exclusively as a lurker), I am one of the old ones who is actually thrilled to have new people drawn here because they follow a favorite player here. I hope that eventually you will come to like and support the team that I like and support and enrich the community with your perspectives and insight.

Kelvin Kato? LOL. You must have started following the Rockets five months ago. The bandwagoner is in the mirror of our bathroom.

Everybody had a bad first game and not just Lin. Then Lin was injured in the second game, so his play didn't cause us to loose the series. You can say that his injury caused us to loose the series because with him on the court playing his regular minutes we would have had a better chance of winning.

I just watched the wcf today, Parker and Conely booth didn't have great careers coming out of the gate but the are booth playing very well right now. I think Lin has a lot of ability and can be a top pg but it will take some time. I think we will see a big improvement in the upcoming year.

Jeremy Lin is overwhelmingly average, and has yet to be a positive producer in the playoffs. Unproven...

Since Cato is brought up...I'd understand the Lin hate if he has character of Cato, Damp, Camby, Jerome James etc. And it is diametrically the opposite.

Thanks a ton, a few good men. This is what I was expecting out of a premier forum, instead of:

Too bad we don't have anyone to save Harden when he sucks...
BTW - who saves you when you suck at posting????

Once again, the goalposts are being moved (although that might mean that people's realistic expectations for Lin have been raised).

At the beginning of the season, many criticized Lin for not even belonging in the NBA.

Now, the criticism has shifted to, "Okay fine, I guess he's not grossly overpaid, but he should be OUTPLAYING his contract! AND he should be a good playoff performer in addition to being a valuable contributor in the regulation season!"

And what do you mean by "unproven"? If you mean a championship-level PG, then obviously, he's unproven, as is every other player on the team including Harden. If you mean a reliable playoff player, then yes, he's still unproven.

But there are many levels of "unprovenness". This season, Lin has proved that he's a solid regular season contributor who can play well even when he's a scouted and known entity. He has been outplayed by top PGs, but he has in turn outplayed them when he's had the chance as well. Given his rate of improvement, there's absolutely no reason to believe that he's already reached his ceiling.
