Where did you get those numbers for Lin? None of them are true except the shooting percentages. Unless Yahoo stats are wrong.
ummm being 6'9 pg, of course he will struggle with quicker point guards yet magic led the NBA in steals for 2 consecutive seasons, a great rebounder and can defend all position...
I always use basketball reference, i've never heard of yahoo sports. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/l/linje01.html I use per 36 because I think that's a fairer way to compare. If you have a look at advanced stats: the OWS and DWS and WS / 48. Lin comes out on top. But most importantly, the eye test on playoff toughness, Hill comes out on top. Lin has been injured last two playoffs and really needs to prove himself next opportunity. I stick with my original assessment. Hill is slightly better with Lin showing an upward trend and potential to surpass Hill over the next couple of years.
Why don't we have a Jeremy Lin vs Derek Fisher or Mike James poll? I mean, if we're going to compare Lin with clearly inferior players, might as well choose the worst. How about Jeremy Lin vs Josh Akognon, Chris Wright and Justin Dentmore?
So...Lin and Asik for George Hill and David West, after we sign Howard? Is that even possible? Hill Harden Parsons West Howard
Just look at it this way ... When your backcourt scoring is Paul George plus Lance Stephenson (and off the bench backcourt Gerald Green, Sam Young and Orlando Johnson)... you're going to get a chance to score. When youre backcourt scoring is James Harden + Chandler Parsons (and off the bench backcourt Carlos Delfino and Francisco Garcia), you're going to be scoring less. Lin shot better than and scored more/36min than Hill once he got over his injury and role change in the last 2.5 months. Lin's a better passer. Hill's a slightly better defender. Hill is a finished product. Lin is still developing. It's the same as the Mike Conley story. Basically Memphis trade Rudy Gay away, has Tony Allen and Tayshaun Prince (at his current age) for backcourt scoring, Conley looks like a star. In the playoffs, Conley has shot less than 40/30 ... despite looking like a star.
If steals qualify a player as a good defender then James and Jeremy are good defenders... Lol.. Pat Riley put Magic on big slow players every chance he got. That's why Magic never made a 1st or 2nd all defensive team. He got many of his steal on help defense and playing the passing lanes. But in Magic's defense, it didn't matter because they put up video game scores and he had Michael Cooper and Kareem. Just was giving an example.
actually hill would make this team a better team. this team is about harden iso, and a good shooter. jeremy lin is not a good shooter.
I was not saying Magic's defense what great... I was just saying that it wasn't bad... at least he was trying most of the time... and he CAN defend opposing team's big man that's why he is put on bigger assignments... he even out-rebounded them most of the time... in their 5 championships, lakers defense never ranked below top 10...
Magic knees got bad as well. And they wasn't a top 10 defense because of Magic's defense. Cooper was GREAT on defense and so was Kareem and James Worthy could do a lil something also. But this isn't a championship team (yet) and every player on this team need to get better defensively and offensively (not just one person).
