Based on this thread, the Rockets have a lot of loser fans then.

Actually I don't think Lin could last in the WNBA. Those sports writers wrote an awfully lot of similar things about Cat and Steve and we all know what happened there. Harden is the main reason we were in the play offs and made any noise at the end of it all. He's our star. We brought him in to lead. Let's stop pretending that Lin is anything but a marketing cash cow. Stupid posts are the ones that belong to people who feel that we have to kiss the feet of every player that Morey has picked up. The man has made some really crappy decisions as well as some good ones... Jordan Hill, Thabeet, Dorsey.... Anyone here still think these guys are going to be all stars? Lin may not be the worse point guard in the league but he doesn't deserve any special treatment and might need to be put on that, list with those other three . He definitely doesn't deserve half the praise this board gives him. For 22 million i'm sure all of us would give their left nut. This pansy sat out two games for a bruise, not a broken rib... Maybe it was a good thing because we saw Beverly step up and show what it means to be a Rocket. That's a player that deserves praise. That's a player that showed us heart.

Just because you won't last a minute in the WNBA doesn't mean Lin couldn't last there.

He actually has elite court vision, elite speed, good size and he's a winner. He posted historic numbers as a first time starter.

Not sure about that but he surely doesn't deserve one fourth of the hate this board gives him.

This is quite dumb. He would have played if they let him, he actually played hurt in game 3. The problem wasn't his toughness, it was the fact that he had trouble with his shooting/dribbling arm.

A deep bone bruise is no kidding.

Atlanta Hawks guard Joe Johnson could be out for the season with a deep bruise in his right calf

Why don't you call JJ a pansy so that you can feel good about your masculinity?

THE reason??? It's a team game, everyone contributes. Lin is A reason. You have to admit that he was an important reason the Knicks made the playoffs last year, correct? It's easier to make a case saying that we would have advanced if he wasn't injured than to say that he wasn't a reason we made the playoffs: Westbrook injured, OKC still advanced, Lin injured, Rockets win not. In that sense, OP is right. OKC doesn't get past the Grizz without their starting PG tho.

Watch the games, Dragic is not a winner, Lin is.

This is full r****d. Lin is so much better than Maloney. Their game so different. They are of the same height, I'll give you that. Don't judge players just by their appearances.

That's certainly possible. Delusion is not very healthy.

You sure sound like a medical doctor.

Again, Lin tried to play through the injury. About time to put down your prejudice.

That's a player that showed us 11.8 points and 2.8 assists per game when he started for Lin.
But thanks for hating Lin though...you're finally REALLLLLLY good at something.

Well, he was part of the team, but I'm guessing you meant Sole reason.

truth Lin is a cash cow.

I don't think Lin is, I think his legion of fans are.

Dude, you realize fewer people get that reference, but dang that's knowledge of a pure fan

    you're my brother

I hope so, he needs to learn about how tough these dudes are like Mario and Sam and Kenny. Kenny got so much criticism yet he showed up and proved himself

    oh dang!

wait wait.... if i remember correctly, it wasn't his choice to sit out. it wasn't his call. he was benched. he was no allowed to play. he WANTED to play. the staff wouldn't let him.

don't really understand all this talk about him not being tough..

fact - he's the only guy other than asik that played all 82 games, through multiple sprained ankles. played through dislocated shoulder in practice. played through torn meniscus over several games as a knick. all the facts contradicts what everyone here is saying about him. guess he just doesn't "look" tough... maybe he needs a few tats.

What "special treatment" has Lin received? He's being paid average starting PG money for putting up average starting PG stats.

I think that statement is very telling, and it might explain some of the most rabid examples of anti-Lin sentiment around here. Whenever there's a person who breaks stereotypes and expectations as Lin has, there will always be a chorus of bitter and stubborn people who will refuse to believe that maybe the system is biased and flawed, and instead believe that the "anomaly" must've only succeeded due to special treatment, affirmative action, etc.

Deceptively quick. Deceptively strong. Deceptively athletic.

Let's add "deceptively tough" to that list as well!

i'm assuming you're playing the "he's asian so all asians will want to buy his jersey and watch the rockets play" card...

wouldn't it make more sense to sign a cheap asian player like yi jalian or that jet chang dude? you can sign them for less than a mil each and get a higher ROI (that's Return on Investment - meaning you get more money back then what you put in - you probably didn't know that). why pay someone 8 mil/yr when you can pay someone 1 and still rake in all the dumb chinese money ('cause we know that chinese will watch another chinese play regardless of whether he's good or not).

hahaha.. no they just assume he's smarter than he really is. so when he makes a dumb mistake, it's "he's setting up them up for later!".

Exactly. Only the demographic to which I belong is capable of fair and objective analysis. Everyone else = "special interests" who can't be trusted to make even-minded decisions. And when I appear to be prejudiced or biased, that's not really prejudice or bias my prejudice/bias is simply the objective truth.

I like how the main reason most support lin is because he got us into the playoffs. Big woop!
When he matches up against legit pgs he plays terrible! Put a high school kid in the league to start for a couple games and he will surprise you if no one knows his report, when they do then hes nothing.

How did everyone let this go? What historic numbers were put up by Lin as a starter? Least 4th quarter minutes per dollar made for the owner?

Historic for him maybe, but there was nothing that Jeremy did this year that people years from now will be saying was special or historic.
